Chapter 944

A few strands of silver had begun to weave through Darcy''s hair, a testament to his endless dedication as a nation''s leader, bearing the weight of the world on his shoulders.

"It was you, Darcy, who brought it up first. You know it was on my mind too," Debby said, her eyes brimming with love as she gazed at her husband. "You might not always show it, Darcy, but you''re always thinking of us."

Evadne was visibly moved, her voice tinged with emotion, "Thank you, Darcy..."

Thaddeus, too, was touched, "Darcy, you''ve really gone above and beyond."

"We''re all family here. When ites down to it, we''ve got to stick together, pull our weight together," Darcy replied as he walked over and wrapped his arm around his wife, their eyes locking in a moment of deep understanding.

Even after all these years, their eyes still sparkled with the intensity of new love, the deep passion that had first drawn them together.

"The two of you still seem so in love, it''s enough to make others jealous."

Sitting leisurely with a cup of tea, Cassius couldn''t help but smile more broadly. "You moved all the way to Helgen, and my folks, especially Suri, have been worried. Seeing you now, I''ll be able to reassure them."

"Darcy is the love of my life."

Despite his high position, Darcy remained humble in the presence of the Ashbourne family, just as he had always been. "I''ll never forget the moment I firstid eyes on her, how hard we worked to get to know and love each other, and the effort it took to make her mine. I remember all of it, Cassius. How could I not cherish her?"

Debby, though the First Lady, blushed shyly, nestling closer to her husband.

No matter his stature, Cassius would always be Cassius.

Thaddeus, his lips barely curving, felt the weight of expectation as the future son- inw of the Ashbourne family.

"Cassius, once you''re safely back in Skyrim, do me a favor and speak well of me to your folks. Darcy''s much obliged," said Darcy with an awkward chuckle, feeling

like a young man again at the mention of matters of the heart.

Cassius nodded reassuringly, teasing, "Of course. Anything the President arranges, consider it done."

Darcy couldn''t help butugh, "Oh, Cassius, always the joker."

The Presidential Mansion, usually a beacon of solemnity, was filled with warmth andughter with the family''s arrival.

However, everyone understood that this moment of peace was just the calm before the storm.

Darcy had called the head of the Presidential Guard and the Chief of Police to discuss the next day''s operations with Thaddeus and Cassius in the conference

    room.

Elvis had arrived in Helgen but had yet to make an appearance, weighed down by the enormity of what was toe.

Evadne tried to keep things light, though her heart was anything but calm, her mind unsettled.

Without realizing it, she found herself at the slightly ajar door of the study. Peeking through the gap, she saw Debby inside, sorting through the mountain of paperwork that cluttered Darcy''s desk.

    "Sister!"

In thefort of family, Evadne forgot the strict protocols of the Presidential Mansion and barged in, "What are you up to?"

"Evadne, I''m helping Darcy organize his things," Debby said, busily sorting through documents with grace and efficiency.

To an outsider, Debby would have been cautious, but Evadne was no outsider. Debby trusted her implicitly, without a hint of reservation.

"Let me help!" Evadne rolled up her sleeves and approached the coffee table to tidy up the scattered papers.

    "Thanks, dear."

Debby chuckled wryly, "Your Darcy, bless him, he''s good at so many things, but domestic chores are not his forte. Laundry ends up ruined, cooking, well, let''s just say the kitchen''s survived some close calls. And if I''m not there to oversee, he''s liable to wear his shirt inside out to an event. It''s a handful."

"Darcy''s mind is always on state matters, the people. It''s no wonder these little things slip through the cracks," Evadne replied understandingly.

Suddenly, her hand paused as she caught sight of a stack of documents hidden beneath the books.

Curiosity getting the better of her, Evadne couldn''t help but pull the papers out from their hiding spot.
