"Where are we heading?" Elsie''s gaze was empty and numb as she looked at him.
After ending things with Elvis, she felt adrift, indifferent to who she was with or where she was going. But she sensed that something major must have happened back home, something that shook Avery to his core, making Harvey, who worshipped Avery like a god, so desperate to flee.
"Anywhere''s fine. I''ve saved enough working with Mr. Chambers over the years to keep usfortable for the rest of our lives!" Harvey pulled a USB drive from theputer and tucked it inside his jacket.
Elsie watched his chest, her eyes darkening. "Didn''t Mr. Chambers say we were to get married in Helgen?"
"Let''s just get out of here first!"
Harvey, Avery''s henchman, was known for being ruthless, but his feelings for Elsie were genuine. The warmth in his gaze couldn''t lie. "Getting married isn''t the most important thing. What matters is being with you, always."
Yet, Elsie felt nothing, her gaze colder than ever.
Then, the phone rang.
Even the most mundane ringtone sent Harvey into a shiver. Seeing it was Avery calling, he didn''t dare dy, answering with forced calm, "Mr. Chambers, what do you need?"
Whatever Avery said on the other end changed Harvey''s expression dramatically. He paced anxiously, yet still tried to butter him up. "With everything going on, it''s really kind of you to think of us, Mr. Chambers. We''ll follow your ns then."
After hanging up, Harvey slumped into the armchair, gazing at the ceiling with heavy eyes.
Elsie''s eyebrows knit together. "Harv, what''s wrong?"
She didn''t care about him; she was worried about Avery''s next move.
"Mr. Chambers wants us to get married in Helgen, have a wedding. After that, he said we''re free to go wherever, no interference."
By now, Elsie had resigned herself to marrying Harvey, her tone indifferent. "Isn''t that what you always wanted?"
"But something feels off."
Harvey''s brow furrowed, his thoughts a mess. "But it''s an order from Mr. Chambers. I have no choice but toply."
In his contemtion, he suddenly noticed a faint, dark fragrance.
Looking up, he saw Elsie approaching him, her white silk robe slipping off her shoulders, revealing a sheer slip dress underneath. Her ck hair cascaded down her front, creating a stark contrast against the white, stirring his desires.
Harvey''s gaze was fixed on her alluring face, not daring to wander further. For years, he hadn''t been in love, though he''d had women for physical needs, never emotional.
His heart had room for only Elsie, his only resentment towards Avery being the day he reced Elsie''s face with Evadne''s.
Without family, friends, or even a clear memory of his hometown. Only her face proved her identity, yet even that was cruelly taken by Avery, leaving this poor girl utterly lost.
"Harv..."
Tonight, Elsie was unexpectedly forward, her slender arms wrapping around his neck, her leg sliding between his. Her gaze, innocent yet seductive, could make any man fall, especially Harvey, who had loved her for so long.
"Tonight, let''s not sleep separately. Stay with me."
Fighting disgust and self-loathing, Elsie made a suggestive offer to a man she found repulsive. Yet, her seemingly flirtatious eyes were cold, asionally ncing at the cross on his chest. Wishing her gaze could tear open his shirt! "Ellie, are you okay? Fever? Drunk?"
Harvey''s voice was hoarse with restraint, but he resisted, even reaching to check her forehead.
"I''m sober. I know what I''m doing..."
Elsie leaned in closer, her eyes filled with tenderness. "A wedding isn''t what makes us a couple. We''re practically married already. As husband and wife, sharing a bed, sharing love, it''s only natural..."
She was desperate to get the USB from Harvey, willing to use any means, even selling her broken body. She felt something terrible was about to happen; neither she nor Harvey might make it out of Helgen alive! Thus, she needed to secure the evidence to bring Avery down, and quickly.
"Ellie, you''re my woman. We have our whole lives ahead, no rush." Despite his overwhelming desire, Harvey took a deep breath, holding back.
"Harv... do you find me repulsive? Is that it?"
Elsie''s heart sank, her eyes welling up. "Being with me isn''t out of love, is it? It''s just pity, sympathy for the years we''ve spent together..."
