The call was from Lawyer Lee.
Thaddeus felt a sudden twitch in his eyelid as he picked up the phone. "Hello, Lawyer Lee."
"Mr. Thaddeus, the Chambers Group is in turmoil!"
By now, Lawyer Lee''s family was safely living abroad, thanks to Thaddeus, who had also hired professional bodyguards for their protection. With no more worries holding him back, he was ready to dive into the fray alongside his benefactor. "The Chambers Group is now under the full management of an Executive Vice President, and it''s been secretly acquired by a capital firm from Helgen I''ve never even heard of!"
A chill ran through Thaddeus''s sharp gaze.
As a seasoned yer in the business arena, he knew exactly what Avery was up to with this move. The shadowy owner behind that capital firm was undoubtedly Avery! This kind of self-serving, old wine in a new bottle tactic was nothing new in the business world.
"The rumors are flying, and Avery''s dirtyundry is starting to air out."
Thaddeus''s voice was deep, his mind racing nonstop. "For him, the Chambers Group has be a hot potato. All the mess left by his father and older brother, he''s been the one to clean it up, by any means necessary. He knows the ins and outs and won''t withstand scrutiny. His involvement in hiring someone for murder has been exposed. Even if Harvey takes the fall, the police will use it as an excuse to investigate deeper, and either way, it''s bad news for him. So now, his only option is to abandon the Chambers Group and flee. But it''s all a facade. He''s only cutting ties with the Chambers Group on the surface while secretly establishing a capital firm to buy it out and be the shadow owner."
Lawyer Lee sighed in frustration. "Ah, Mr. Thaddeus, you''re right on every ount. I''ve had my suspicions too!"
"Do you know where Avery has gone?" Thaddeus asked.
"I''ve asked around, but no one seems to know!"
Lawyer Lee sounded utterly defeated. "Avery never saw me as anything more than a tool to clean up his messes. Why would he tell me something so crucial?"
Thaddeus replied with a calming tone, "Don''t worry, you''ve done well."
"But during my time with him, I took advantage of my position to gather some evidence of him embezzling and corruptingpany funds! And, I have a recording of him instructing me to negotiate with Wayne! If that recordinges out, it would be a devastating blow to him, and he wouldn''t be able to clear his name even if he jumped into the Grand Canyon!"
"The recording won''t do."
Thaddeus firmly refused. "Aside from the fact that a recording can''t be used as evidence in court, exposing it would also ruin your career as awyer. I don''t want to see a situation where both sides lose."
Lawyer Lee was deeply moved. "Mr. Thaddeus..."
"But what you mentioned earlier, about him moving thepany funds, that''s crucial."
Thaddeus''s voice was low, like thunder rolling in from the horizon. "As long as we initiate a thorough investigation into the Chambers Group, all of Avery''s dirty deeds wille to light. Then, we''ll have the chance to arrest him and bring him to justice!"
Two female PR staff were escorted back to the police station, while other officers cordoned off both entrances to The Velvet Haven and began aprehensive search of the entire club.
Aaron was beside himself, trying tofort Elvis, who was frantic with despair as they searched for Elsie, even checking inside cabs.
He couldn''t ept that Elsie had just left to marry that Harvey.
But the harsh reality was right in front of him, and he could no longer lie to himself...
"Elvis, don''t take it too hard. At least... Ms. Archer is safe," Aaron said, struggling to find the words tofort him.
