Thaddeus couldn''t bear the thought of letting Elvis face danger alone. In no time, he was geared up and had reached out to Aaron and Gordon, ready to make a dash for The Velvet Haven. They had to back up Elvis and rescue Elsie! That girl was their undercover ally, and also the future sister-inw to him and Evadne. It was both a matter of principle and emotion. He had to do everything in his power to save her; standing by was not an option!
Before leaving, Thaddeus''s heart lingered on his darling. He tiptoed back to the bedroom, knelt by the bed, and tenderly ran his fingers through her soft hair, nting kisses on her forehead, the tip of her nose, and her lips...
"Mmm...Thaddeus...don''t go..." Evadne''s featheryshes trembled, her lips slightly parted, mumbling in a dreamy haze.
Thaddeus''s breath grew deeper, more heated. His warm palm gently caressed his lover''s cheek, his heart pounding wildly, his chest rising and falling. He couldn''t bear to look any longer. Another nce, and leaving would be even harder.
"Darling, sleep well. When you open your eyes tomorrow morning, I''ll be the first thing you see."
Armed with the evidence provided by Elvis, Aaron secured an arrest warrant from the higher-ups and led his team straight to The Velvet Haven! The crescent moon hung low, the night air crisp and clean. The Velvet Haven was eerily quiet, a stark contrast to its usual bustling self!
Thaddeus and Elvis were the first to arrive, bracing for a tough battle to breach Avery''s stronghold. But to their surprise, the den of iniquity was shrouded in darkness, not just closed for the night, but devoid of any bouncers at the door!
Elvis set the lock pick against the door, and after a brief operation, the hefty steel door swung open with a thud. Inside, the darkness was oppressive, like the path to the underworld. Elvis gritted his teeth, about to take a step forward when Thaddeus stepped ahead of him. Looking at Thaddeus''s towering, mountain-like figure, Elvis felt a warmth in his eyes. Thaddeus, with his wholehearted devotion, protected Evadne and her family. In this moment, he didn''t hesitate to walk ahead of Elvis, ready to face any danger on his own. Just like that time on Star Ind, and now again!
Elvis clenched his gun tightly, moving slowly alongside Thaddeus deeper into the darkness. The further they went, the more something felt off.
"What''s going on? Even if it''s closed today, it shouldn''t bepletely deserted, right?"
A sense of rm rose in Elvis''s heart, his gaze sweeping the surroundings coldly, "Could it be that we''ve tipped off Avery? Have they already evacuated?!"
Suddenly, a rustling noise pierced the silence.
"Who''s there? Show yourself!"
Elvis''s eyes sharpened instantly, his hands steadying the gun towards the source of the noise.
"Elvis, hold your fire." Thaddeus quickly reached out to steady Elvis''s wrist, calming him down, "It''s two women, looks like they''re hostesses."
Elvis, surprised, slowly lowered his hand.
"Please, don''t kill us..."
From the darkness, two pretty young girls emerged, shivering, each dragging a suitcase as if nning a quick getaway.
"We''re just hostesses at The Velvet Haven. We don''t know anything... Please don''t kill us!" Despite the good looks of the men before them, they were still visibly terrified, on the brink of tears.
Thaddeus asked sternly, "Why is The Velvet Haven closed? Why are only you two here? Where is everyone else?"
"We don''t know, we''re just na''s public rtions; how could we be in the know about such core matters?" One of the girls, a bit braver, shielded her friend behind her.
