Chapter 726
Jareth’s mind was in turmoil, unable to grasp what was being said.
“Thad, I don’t get what you’re talking about.”
“Mr. Fairhaven! This is bad!”
Dean handed over his phone with a trembling hand, panic written all over his face, “Someone leaked a video of the missus having an episode online, it’s going viral as we speak, with over two hundred thousand shares!”
In an instant, Lily went pale as a ghost, her cane ttering to the floor as she struggled to stand.
Jareth stared at the screen, his eyes wide with shock, a storm of crimson rage swirling within them. His entire b*dy was tense, shaking with fury.
Thaddeus‘ voice cut through the air, thick with anger, but Jareth’s mind was a nk te, the words floating to him as if from a distant void
“Why did Mari have an episode? Who took the video, who posted it online?! Didn’t you say you’d take care of my sister? Didn’t you have someone on her tail every step of the way?!
Jareth, what the hell is going on? Have you been so blinded by power that you’ve forgotten the woman you im to care about most?!”
Jareth felt as if his throat was in a knot, the taste of blood soaking his tongue.
“Speak up! Are you ying dumb now?!” Thaddeus‘ voice was hoarse with rage.
Despite his anger and frustration, faced with such a catastrophe, he couldn’t bring himself to utter the cruel words that would tear them apart.
Thaddeus knew what love was; he believed Jareth loved Mari just as he loved Evadne. He understood the pain of separation too well. It was like ying a man alive, day after day, the blood never drying, the wounds never healing.
But right then, Thaddeus was at a loss.
Mari and Evadne were worlds apart. Evadne was a warrior goddess who could stand shoulder to shoulder with him in battle, backed by a strong family and a warm, happy home. She could take on the world and feared no loss.
But Mari, what did she have? She couldn’t fight this battle. And could Jareth, as he was now, truly protect
her?
Love alone doesn’t guarantee happiness.
Til handle it, Thad. Please trust me. I know who leaked it; I know who’s pulling the strings behind the scenes. rll deal with them.”
Jareth’s eyes they’re dead!”
trembled with unshed tears, his breathsing out in ragged shards, “Anyone who hurts Mari,
“Is that any use, Jareth?”
Thaddeus‘ voice was heavy with bitterness, “The mastermind’s goal has been achieved. The video has spread far and wide; the whole nation knows now, Mari is seen as an abnormal girl,”
The shares were in the hundreds of thousands and would soon hit a million, with countless people watching. It was impossible to delete, impossible to control.
“Not just that, my grandpa and Frederic know too. Grandpa was so furious he nearly had a fit; Evadne’s gone to be by his side.”
Thaddeus suppressed his heartache, his voice hoarse, “Grandpa wants to take Mari back home. I’m on my
11:00
Jareth seemed deaf to his words, his gaze lost and chaotic, “I shouldn’t have be this CEO. If I’d known it woulde to this.”
“Jareth, it’s a catch–22. The Fairhaven Group is your father’s legacy. You won’t let it fall into Gary’s hands to avenge your father, so you’re bound to get dragged into the power struggle sooner orter. The enemy will always strike at your Achilles‘ heel, and for you, that’s Mari.”
Thaddeus sighed heavily, “Jareth, it’s an age–old dilemma: family vendetta or love. To love is not necessarily to be a good match, nor does it guarantee happiness.”
In just a few hours, the whole country knew that the Abernathy family had a daughter with mental health issues.
No matter how the Abernathy Group tried to control the narrative or delete the video, the damage was done, and the tide of public opinion couldn’t be turned back.
[No wonder the Abernathy Group never let Ms. Mari Abernathy show her face in public; they were afraid of being disgraced!]
[Tsk, just desserts! Elspeth that wretched witch did too much wrong, and now it’s alle back to haunt her own daughter!]
[Ah well, why couldn’t it have been Glynnis Abernathy going crazy? What a shame.]
[Does Glynnis even need to go crazy? She’s crazy enough as it is!]
[Talk about Mr. Fairhaven being a true love warrior, willing to marry a woman with mental illness? Touched my heart right there!]
[Come off it, as if there’s true love in a wealthy marriage. Haven’t you seen the news? Jareth’s about to be the CEO of the Fairhaven Group. He’s not marrying Mari for love; he’s after the bread, using the Abernathy Group’s influence to secure his position in the business world. Talk about a facade!]
Glynnisy in bed, applying a face mask and scrolling throughments, ughing so hard she could roll on the floor.
But herughter turned to sorrow as her iPad sl*pped from her grasp, hitting her right in the face, turning her l*ps purple and knocking her freshly done upturned nose askew, causing her to yelp in pain and sit bolt upright.
Just then, Edith’s call came through.
Glynnis, clutching her nose, answered with indignation, “Hello!”
“You’ve got good fortune knocking and you sound like you’re cursing the world. Can’t you just be happy for once? You’re such bad vibes,” came Edith’snguid voice.
“Hmph, even though that little wench’s disgrace is out there, Jareth can’t marry me, so there isn’t much to be happy about,” Glynnis, no matter how gleeful she felt inside, didn’t want to show too much in front of this girl.
“Don’t be so greedy. If it weren’t for me stepping in to help you out, you’d be under your idiot sister’s thumb forever. And you think you could climb up to be the wife of our Fairhaven Group’s CEO? Dream on.”
Glynnis clenched her teeth in frustration, “You think you did it all by yourself? If I hadn’t given you that medical report, would things have gone so smoothly?! Still, Jareth’s not one to give up easily, no matter what we’ve done, he’s still set on marrying Mari.”
“So, we’ve got to keep the ball rolling, huh? You need to keep fanning the mes with Mr. Frederic Abernathy, and on my end, I’ve got ns in motion.”
Glynnis overheard what sounded like Edith smooching someone over the phone, a sticky, smacking sound that gave her goosebumps.

Edith’s voice took BN face–to–face.”
