“Jason, how could you?!”


    Evadne’s mind buzzed with shock!


    Had it not been for Thaddeus’s timely embrace, she would have nearly copsed!


    “Is it true?! Jason confessed to everything?” Chief Roderick’s eyes sparkled with surprise as he fl*pped through the confession letter to confirm.


    “Yes<b>, </b>Chief. It’s all there in ck and white. Jason has admitted to assaulting Mr. Byron and causing him permanent injury. He’s confessed to the charges and is ready to face the consequences:


    This sudden turnaround was a windfall for the Chambers Group!


    For days there had been interrogators who rotated to put pressure on him non–<b>stop</b>. Any <b>regr </b>Joe would have cracked under the strain, but Jason was tough as nails, preferring tonguish in the gloom of his cell rather than bend the knee.


    So why on earth <b>had </b>he suddenly spilled the beans?


    What had happened to make him change his mind?

    Evadne’s eyes reddened with anger and pain as she shook her head in disbelief, “Has he lost his mind? You don’t just confess to something like this! Is he so eager for a taste of prison food?!”


    “Exactly. You don’t just confess to something like this?


    Cedric squinted his eyes with a sly grin, teasing “Jason, as a top graduate from Elmsworth Law School, knows this better than anyone Ms. Evadne, why are you getting involved? What’s the fuss?”


    Evadne felt as if her heart had been stabbed and was throbbing with pain,


    In an instant, a lightning bolt of realization struck her, and everything made sense


    One hour earlier.


    Chief Roderick had done Cedric a <b>favor </b>by allowing him a secret visit with Jason ahead of time


    In the interrogation room, the two brothers sat facing each other, the atmosphere was tense to the breaking point.


    There was no sign of familial warmth, but a palpable and hostile stand–off.

    Cedric shook his head in mock dismay as he surveyed him, if mom and dad knew that you were facing years behind bars for the daughter of the Ashbourne family’s mistress, they’d be heartbroken How unfilial are you!”


    “Didn’t your masters keep you on a leash? You scampered over here to bark the moment they took their eyes off you?” Jason closed his eyes, not even wanting to look at him.


    Cedric chuckled, unfazed by the insult.


    “We’re brothers. Why should ite to this?”


    “Don’t talk to me about ‘brotherhood! It makes me sick”


    “Ha! Then let’s <b>talk </b>about something less nauseating something you’re interested in


    Cedric pulled out his phone, loaded up a video, and pushed it slowly towards Jason. Take a look. What’s this?”


    Upon hearing this, Jason frowned and lifted his eyelids to nce at the screen.


    The next second, his eyes widened in shock, and he shot up, mming his fist on the table. “Cedric What the hell are you trying to do?!”


    The video showed the scene from the party where Evadne and Thaddeus burst in. What happened afterward was


    self–exnatory.


    Then there was a cl*p of Cassius dealing with Byron, who by then had been beaten to a pulp and dragged along by President Ashbourne like <b>a </b>sack of potatoes. It was all clearly captured on camera

    And throughout the entire sequence, Jason was conspicuously absent!


    He had been there, but in this video, he had been erased!


    <b>“</b>Evadne and Thaddeus are quite careful in their dealings. After assaulting Byron, they managed to delete the hotel’s surveince footage of them. But they overlooked <b>one </b>thing: if the deletion was done within a week, it could be restored by the right technical


    expertise.”


    A malevolent smile slowly spread across Cedric’s face, “Ah, and to restore the video, I had to fly out of the country to consult top hackers. It cost me a pretty penny, several hundred thousand dors. But, the results were satisfying”


    “<b>Cedric </b>you’re fabricating evidence! Aren’t you afraid of having yourw license revoked, or being investigated by the Department of Justice?” Jason’s face tensed with pale fury, with a vein on his forehead throbbing.


    “Fabricating evidence? Did I do that?”


    Cedric spread his hands with a sinister smile, “My dear brother, you were there. You know better than anyone who really hit Byron. In this video, it’s clear who <b>did </b>it–Evadne and Thaddeus. Who covered for them was the Ashbourne family’s eldest son, Cassius. When did you lift a finger? I must have missed that part.”


    Jason felt as though his chest had been pierced, and he roared in rage, “Come at me if you dare! Don’t you darey a finger on thedy!”


    “Oh, there’s one more thing I should tell you.”


    Cedric’s fingers interlocked as he leaned in closer, his gaze cold and menacing. “Yourdy is on her way to save you. If I’m not mistaken, in her desperation, she’ll likely turn herself in and take all the me upon herself. That way, she can save you from this mess.”


    Jason shook his head in despair, every part

    “Either way, you or someone from the Ashbourne family will have to take the fall. After <b>all</b>, the video won’t lie, and Byron’s injuries won’t deceive. Jason, after everything you and yourdy have been through, you wouldn’t want to get her involved because of you, would you?
