Chapter 76

I stammered for a while, not knowing how I should respond. Zion rolled his eyes at me and quickly stepped in.

"Hudson is currently staying in the employee dormitory. Ourpany has a policy that doesn''t allow non-employees to enter the dormitories. So, he can''t take you there."

Hearing this, I quickly nodded in agreement.

Sylvia looked at me skeptically, pulling me closer.

She nced at Zion and whispered to me, "Dopanies in Adenville have such

a strict rule? Why don''t I know about this? Hudson, whichpany are you working for?"

I wasn''t sure how Zion managed to cover for me at thepany, but from Sylvia''s expression, it seemed she wasn''t fully aware of the truth.

With no other option, I had to go with the lie.

"Yes, that''s just how thepany''s policy is. There''s nothing we can do about it."

"Is that really the case?" Sylvia looked disappointed, as if she regretted not being able to see where I was staying.

"Well, if that''s the case, we should head back. Hudson, there''s still a lot of work waiting for us at thepany." Zion looked at me with a forced smile. I could tell he was at the end of his tether.

Although Sylvia seemed annoyed by Zion''s words, she had no choice but to let me leave.

As we walked out and took the elevator down, Zion started to vent. "Hudson, your girlfriend is really annoying. She keeps asking questions. It''s irritating."

I had nothing to argue against Zion.

Sylvia did show a lot of concern for me and talked quite a bit, but I couldn''t me her for that. She was my girlfriend. She cared for me because she liked me.

Besides, if Sylvia were indifferent toward me, I might even start questioning whether our rtionship could continue-whether she truly loved me.

Seeing that I remained silent, Zion became annoyed and tried to tease me with an old joke.

"How about this, you break up with your girlfriend, and I''ll introduce you to other beautiful women. I guarantee they won''t be worse than this one."

I didn''t understand why Zion kept trying to convince me to get a new girlfriend. If

he really knew so many women, why not find one for himself instead of hoping for Selena to return his unrequited feelings for her?

"Zion, I''ve told you before. If you keep saying things like this, then don''t me me for being ruthless."

I turned to look at him with a smile.

"Am I not allowed to joke now? You''re so petty." Zion ignored me and continued walking ahead.

Sometimes, I found myself wondering if I had changed because I spent time with people like Selena and Zion. I couldn''t shake the feeling that I was somehow different from who I used to be.

Who was it that changed me?

Still deep in thought about this difficult question, I heard Zion shout back at me.

"Oh, by the way, Hudson, there''s something I''ve been wanting to tell you. Why does it seem like your girlfriend doesn''t love you as much as she should?"

"What does that have to do with you?" I responded coldly.

The first person we encountered on the way back to the office was Andy, who was carrying a pile of files.

Seeing me, Andy came over to greet me, then leaned in to look at my name badge.

"So, your name is Hudson. It''s a nice name. It goes really well with Selena''s."
