Chapter 26

My interactions with Selena were quite simple. Even though we were stuck in this small hospital room, unable to leave or contact anyone because we had no phones, the hospital facilities were decent enough, and we had ess to the inte on the television.

After chatting for two or three hours, she suggested watching a movie.

After a few minutes of browsing, we settled on the film "Flipped".

As I watched the movie, I couldn''t help but feel nostalgic. This was the first movie we had ever watched together, and even though it was released before I was born, it still moved me deeply.

I clearly remembered my reaction the first time I saw it-Selena reminded me of the female lead, chasing after the person she liked with such bravery and passion. She truly was a good girl.

Holding the remote, Selena looked at the movie cover and, snuggling up to my arm, asked softly, "Hud, do you remember that "Flipped" was the first movie we watched together back then?"

I simply nodded, not wanting to say much. The plot still resonated with me, but watching it yearster feltpletely different.

The female lead knew when to cut her losses, even when she liked the male lead. She could ignore his advances when she suspected his character was wed. But what about me? Should I do the same when I learned about Selena''s darker side?

Sometimes, I found myself wishing that her rtionship with Zion was merely a misunderstanding.

As I watched the male lead''s grandfather share wisdom with him on screen, I reflected on the different types of people in the world. Some were shallow, some were quiet, some were superficial, while others had inner depth.

Everyone eventually met someone who shone like a rainbow, making everything else feel trivial inparison.

These thoughts filled my mind as I saw the words on the screen.

Suddenly, Sylvia''s face came to mind. When I was feeling down, she was the one beside me,forting me.

When I first started working and faced difficulties, Selena rarely offered help. She was already a high-ranking executive, having be the president of thepany at a young age. She secured significant projects with the help of friends and family and thrived.

She had no understanding of the frustrations of being undermined by superiors or the anger of being framed by colleagues. She would often casually say, "If it gets too hard, just quit. I can support you."

As a man, how could I rely on a woman? I was determined to work hard and build my own career. I started putting in long hours, hustling for business, and dealing with all sorts of people. I was often away from home for ten days to two weeks at a time. Sheined, but she respected my choices.

Eventually, I climbed the ranks from employee to team leader, then supervisor, and finally to president. Though it was exhausting, it was worth it.

Yet, looking at her in my arms, I felt a twinge of doubt, even guilt.

Had my absence left her feeling lonely and cold? Otherwise, why would she fall for her assistant?

After all, pared to me, Zion had been with her much longer. It wasn''t surprising that feelings could develop over time. But that couldn''t justify her infidelity. That was simply hical.
