Chapter 697 Did Your Mentor Abandon You?
He had followed Tuesday here intending to threaten her into taking him along when she left. However, he arrived toote, only to glimpse her boarding the vessel with Cassian.
Benson tried to chase after them, but he was unexpectedly stopped. Not only did heck the permit to enter Forreb, but he also hadn''t paid the fifty million kryts required for the spatial vessel. To make matters worse, he was mocked and insulted by staff at the dock.
"Please, just let me pass. I''m from Forreb," Benson pleaded. I was robbed of my permit andmunication chip when I arrived here. All my money is back in Forreb, but I''ll pay you soon!
"That woman who went in a few days ago-the one with the long hair who brought a young man with her-she''s my mistress, Benson insisted. "Contact her. She''ll pay you the money!"
But no matter how Benson shouted and pleaded, the man in ck remained unmoved. Without a word, he suddenly raised his fist and struck Benson hard across the left side of his face, loosening several teeth.
Benson reeled from the blow, full of resentment-he had been so close to reaching Forreb, just one step away, yet that single step now felt impossibly out of reach.
Just as Benson stood there, grimacing in pain and trying to figure out a way to sneak past the guards unnoticed, a flicker of movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention.
His eyes narrowed in disbelief as he recognized a familiar figure. ''Raven Valor?'' he thought. ''How could it be her? That wretch was supposed to be dead!''
Benson momentarily forgot all about arguing with the ck-d guard. His eyes locked onto the approaching figure, unwavering and intense.
That young woman in a white dress and denim jacket-Raven-was unmistakably her. She was the person he med for his fall from grace, the one he held responsible for his current disgrace and misery.
Hatred red in Benson''s eyes. If it hadn''t been for Raven, he would still be the Third Commander of Vyrdenia, basking in power and prestige, not reduced to this wretched state.
''Damn it, he thought bitterly. ''Wasn''t she supposed to have been executed by Mr. Brown? How is she still alive-worse, how did she even find her way to Forreb''s Spatial Point? Could she be trying to flee out of fear, and stumbled on the port by sheer luck?''
Suddenly, a thought struck Benson-Raven had amunication chip from Forreb. That chip wasn''t just a tool but a symbol of Forrebian identity. Unlike themoners of the lower realms, the people of Forreb carried these chips; with them, they could return to their homnd without formal travel documents.
''So, that was her n-using the chip to sneak into Forreb!'' Benson suddenly understood. ''It seemed Raven, fearing punishment from Mr. Brown, had abandoned her subordinates at the critical moment and attempted to flee to Forreb by taking advantage of themunication chip.
''She preaches about honor and righteousness, but Raven is nothing more than a cowardly, self-serving hypocrite.'' Benson sneered, contempt gleaming in his eyes.
''Someone as lowly as her has no right to enjoy a life in Forreb. Over my dead body!'' Benson spat on the ground instinctively, his eyes locked on Raven. Without a second thought, he strode straight toward her.
After being captured by the Sunset Empire, he had altered his appearance, confident that Raven wouldn''t recognize him. So when he stepped before her, he made no effort to conceal his identity. With a mocking tone, he sneered, "Well, well... if it isn''t the infamous Raven Valor?"
"You mentioned before that you would attend the World Celebrities Wine Party and even boasted about being George''s disciple. So what happened? Did your mentor abandon you? Howe you''re here alone at the dock? Could it be that you never had a mentor to begin with? Are you running away because you''re afraid your identity will be exposed?"
