No, anyone and everyone are wee toe to eat here the general, those who do not live here usually eat at home Many kids are out and shou might key for mealle here before going home. We do ask that if you n on eating here and don''t live here to give the staff a heads up to there can be enough food. There is a fod pantry that we keep stalked for those who are lower ie and need assistance. We do grow most of our own produce and with the extrand, what isnt tted for housing will be farnd.

Workers will be needed for that."

Gate nodded and took her seat. Ryder waited for the next question, but everyone remained quiet. "The next topic is general rules. In the pack house, all walls arepletely soundproofed. There''s a ree room and gym in the back, open to everyone. Teenagers usually have pizza parties on Saturday nights, ying games. They might build bonfires. As long as they don''t cause trouble or make problems, I allow it. It keeps them away from bad things. Obviously, Xena and I are avable 24/7 for everyone. If it''s not an emergency, try to handle things during work hours, but you won''t be punished if it goes beyond that. There''s a lot here that needs our attention. Therefore, we won''t be in the office on fixed schedules. Email will be an effective way

    to contact us.

"I made a flyer with a list of activities." Ama stood up to show Ryder. "There''s a stack in the back you can

    take,

There were some whispers and worried expressions, as if they thought Ryder would punish Ama for interrupting "Thank you," Ryder said, quickly scanning the flyer. “Beta Ama printed flyers for everyone to take from the back. They list all uing activities. Xena hasn''t had het Luna ceremony yet, and we had to cancel some events that need to be made up. Please look at the flyer, it has her contact information for

    those who need staff."

"Thank you," I said to Ama. Add the dance, plus the BBQ party as a wee for all new members." Ama

    nodded and made a note.

"Starting today, things will be very busy here. Well hold funerals for those who lost their lives. We''ll bury my piments, Alpha Benedict and Launa Kestel, and the warriors who died in battle. Pleasee to pay your respects. After the funeral, anyone can continue settling in. Any questions? Ryder looked around.

Hearing Ryder mention the funeral, my heart immediately grew heavy.

"Actually, Alpha Ryder, since we are all here. Ama stood up. "Lune Xena wishes to have a BBQ party as a wee to all of our new members. Give everyone a chance to meet and mingle. Find a club or activity you want to participate in: However, due to what i have nted and different events, the BBQ would best

    be scheduled for tonight."

"Okay, BBQ tonight," Ryder agreed. He was a little confused but I doubt it bothered him what was going on. Ama must have said something in the mind-link because he quickly changed his mood. “Does everyone know what to say to denounce your ties?" Everyone nodded. No one stated they didn''t. "Good, please denounce your ties and I will ept everyone as a whole."

Across the room, those who needed to denounce their ties did. Many clutched their chest as the pain was clear. Some kids started crying as they felt their mother''s pain but some were still running around, smiling.

When everyone rxed, Ryder spoke up. “1, Alpha Ryder of the ck Moon Pack, ept everyone here as a pack member." He kept it short and sweet. Many murmurs spread of them epting him back. I felt each one like a knife through my heart as my head exploded again with more and more people.

I lowered my head and closed my eyes to process it all. Passing out wasn''t an option, but this time there weren''t nearly as many people involved as when I was with Alpha Benedict. At some point, Ryder put his hand on my shoulder, trying to take away some of the pain, but eventually the pain subsided, leaving only a severe headache.

"Thank you all foring. If you could head to the funeral site, we can pay our respects," Ryder said when I looked up at him. He still had his hand on my shoulder, but his gaze was on everyone.

After he finished speaking, everyone stood and silently walked out of the room. Most people took a flyer. We stood and followed the others out of the room, walking down the corridor. The ce where Boneash Pack held funerals was more secluded, located at the edge of the woods. We had to walk several hundred yards to get there. All the bodies were ced on beds made of wood and straw.

No one spoke as they found seats and sat down. We walked to the front row. William tried to raise the torch, but couldn''t do it, so his father Beta Ulysses did it instead. Somehow, this felt more appropriate.

"Thank you all foring. I know a lot has happened today. Please stay briefly, but you''re free to leave after the cremation begins," Ryder said. He went over and talked with Ulysses for a while. Ryder lingered by his parents, saying his final goodbye, then went to each of the fallen one by one.

Ryder sat down beside me, cing his hand on my thigh. I wrapped my arm around his and rested my head on his shoulder.

About ten minutester, people began to stand and leave. One by one, everyone left, until only the four of us remained. Ulysses didn''t leave until Alpha Benedict became unrecognizable.

Finally, Ryder stood and moved each body to their pit and buried them. Most of the work was already done, so it didn''t take much manpower toplete. William wanted to help, but he could barely do anything. His face looked better, the bruising had lessened, and he was even sitting straighter.

When it was over, Ryder sat beside me, breathing heavily. "What now?" I asked.

"Now, we need to go to Florida, to finish digging up what your mother left for you," Ryder said.

That''ll have to wait until next week. This week ispletely booked," Ama sald. That''s fine. Waiting another week won''t change anything," I sighed. Chapter Comments
