Gavin fell silent for a while before replying in a calm tone, "Because I find you
pretty easy on the eyes."
What he didn''t say
and the only one out of all the women who had ever thrown themselves at him, Britney was the only one he actually found attractive.
I ever managed to steal a kiss from him.
Britney was speechless. ''So just being easy on the eyes is enough to be marriage material?'' she thought to herself,
Seeing Britney stay quiet, Gavin asked again, "What do you
Britney smiled and said, "I think it''s just too sudden."
think?"
Gavin shifted in his seat, his handsome face unreadable as he fixed her with a deep, intense gaze. "Think it over and give me your answer before midnight tonight."
Britney was at a loss for words. ''Midnight tonight?'' she thought in disbelief. ''Why is he in such a hurry?"
Gavin held out his hand to her across the ck conference table. "Give me your phone."
Britney wasn''t even sure what she was thinking. She just unlocked her phone and handed it over without a word.
Gavin immediately dialed his own number, hung up, and handed the phone back to her. "Don''t forget to call me."
With that, he stood up, gave her a slight nod, and walked out.
Britney held her phone, staring at the number at the top of her call log, her mind still nk.
Gavin had swept in and out so fast. The whole thing hadsted less than ten minutes. It felt like a dream.
Through the ss, Britney watched as his tall figure walked away, biting her lip. This wasn''t a dream. It was real.
That night, she really had thought about sleeping with Gavin. It was crazy. Just like Gavin said, she had to admit that she found him pretty
attractive, too.
She wouldn''t have gone home with him otherwise. But marriage was just crazy.
For the rest of the day, Britney found herself distracted at work.
Sometimes her mind reyed Gavin and the things he''d said; other times, all she could picture was his strikingly handsome face.
She finally made it to the end of the workday.
Britney changed out of her uniform, bag in hand, as she walked out through the employee exit.
The sun was setting. Everyone around her seemed to be in a hurry. At first nce, they spotted a sleek ck Rolls-Royce parked
far away
Her coworkers were checking it out, all curious. Britney nced over, too. That was when she caught sight of the man in the back seat-his profile was strikingly handsome.
Just as she looked over, he turned to look at her too, his eyes calm and distant, locking with her curious gaze.
Britney just stared in disbelief. ''That''s Gavin,'' she thought, a little dazed. ''Is he waiting for me?''
Still unsure, Britney decided to walk over and greet him.
Britney stopped in front of the car and called out, "Hi, Gavin."
Gavin regarded her with a calm expression. "Have you made up your mind?"
Britney was speechless. ''Didn''t he say I had until midnight?'' she thought.
Seeing Britney stay silent, Gavin spoke up again, "Get in the car." Britney asked, puzzled, "Get in the car? What for?"
Gavin said, "I''ll take you home."
Britney hurriedly said, "No, that''s okay. I live really close. I can just walk home."
Gavin frowned ever so slightly. "Remember to give me your answer by midnight." Britney nodded. "Okay."
Gavin rolled up the window.
Britney caught her own reflection in the ss. She hadn''t even realized she was smiling a little.
The Rolls-Royce pulled away. Her coworkers gathered around, gossiping excitedly.
"Ms. Watson, who was that guy? He pulled up in a Rolls-Royce. He must be seriously rich."
"Ms. Watson, he looked super young and really handsome. Is he your boyfriend or something?"
"No way, right? Didn''t she just get dumped? How did she find a new guy so fast?" someone whispered.
Britney fixed her gaze on the person who had whispered for a few seconds, and they quickly looked away. She didn''t say anything, just walked away with her bag in her hand.
At the Yates Manor, Cameron noticed that Gavin spent the whole dinner holding his phone, like he was waiting for someone to call.
Unable to hold back, Cameron finally asked, "Gavin, are you waiting for someone to call you?"
