As Calder''s words hung in the air, the atmosphere in the room seemed to freeze.
''That was way too blunt,'' someone thought. Seven pairs of eyes turned to Elijah. Elijah''s heart was actually trembling. After eighteen years, this was the first time he''d ever liked a girl. And it was also his first time confessing to a girl.
He could feel his heart racing with excitement and nerves.
Everyone was waiting for Elijah''s answer.
Cameron and Sienna were both convinced that Elijah liked Amelia.
But in the very next moment, Elijah spoke up, his voice steady but soft. "The girl I like is Cameron."
Sienna''s mind wentpletely nk. She stared at Elijah, utterly stunned. ''Wait, it''s Cameron?'' Sienna thought,pletely floored. She''d been so sure it was Amelia all along.
But Amelia had seen iting. "I knew it-you really do like Cameron," she said, sounding totally unfazed.
Amelia was well aware of just how popr Cameron was. However, she honestly hadn''t expected Cameron to be this popr.
Even with her tomboyish style, Cameron had somehow managed to make Elijah, Bradley, and even Austin all fall for her at the same time.
''If she ever put on a dress, I bet she''d drive half the guys on campus crazy,'' Amelia thought.
L pped her hands. “Elijah, you like my idol? Nice taste."
"Yeah, nice taste," Calder echoed.
Tyler grinned, "Hey, Elijah, does she even know you like her?"
Elijah slowly turned to look at Cameron, while Cameron was at aplete loss for words.
When Elijah said her name, she froze on the spot, totally stunned. ''Wait, Elijah likes me?'' Cameron thought, her mind going nk.
The way they interacted had always been perfectly normal, never even close to crossing any lines.
''Why would he like me?'' Cameron thought in disbelief.
While Cameron was still stunned, Elijah turned to look at her. For a moment, their eyes locked.
Cameron waspletely stunned into silence.
Elijah looked at her and said, "Cameron, I like you. But I never wanted my feelings to pressure you, so I kept it to myself until now. Sorry."
Cameron remained silent.
Elijah was nothing like the impulsive Xander or the pushy Austin. Even though Cameron had just heard Elijah confess, she didn''t feel ufortable at
all.
After thinking for a moment, she said, "Elijah, thank you for liking me."
After hearing that, a small smile slowly spread across Elijah''s lips.
He''d witnessed firsthand how Cameron had turned Austin down-and the whole thing had been pretty rough. So, he didn''t n any kind of grand confession.
Instead, he just took the chance during the game to let her know how he felt.
He simply told her that he liked her. Whether she wanted to respond or not-that was entirely up to her.
When Cameron thanked him, Elijah''s smile grew a little wider. ''Thank goodness I didn''t mess this up, he thought. He hadn''t ended up ruining their a friendship like Austin did.
Tyler cleared his throat. "So, are we going to keep ying?"
"Yes," Elijah said.
And just like that, the game went on.
Elijah had just confessed his feelings, and now they were right back to ying like nothing had happened.
It left Cameron feeling a little dazed. ''Was all of that just a dream?'' she thought. Still, she knew for sure it was real.
She honestly had no idea how she was supposed to respond to Elijah now. She just wasn''t in the mood for a rtionship right now.
So if Elijah was okay with just being friends, then friends they would stay.
After another round of the game, it was already 10 PM..
Everyone pitched in to clear the table, then made sure to leave Cameron and Elijah some space to themselves.
Elijah looked at Cameron, his gaze open and honest. "I didn''t scare you, did I?”
Cameron shook her head. "I was just really caught off guard. I honestly thought you liked Amelia."
Elijah looked genuinely puzzled. "Why would you think that? Did I give you the wrong idea or something?"
