Chapter 3013

    ?Chapter 3013:

Ernest remained by the gates, his posture firm, refusing to step away even after being forced out of the house.

The two bodyguards beside him traded uncertain looks, clearly hesitant to speak.

They questioned silently what their next move should be. Breaking back in wasn’t an option. If they could have, they never would have been kicked out to begin with.

All that filled Ernest’s mind was worry for Elissa’s well-being.

When she had that ident—her car plunging into the sea while she was carrying a child—he had already braced himself for the worst.

Now that she stood before him, alive and seemingly unharmed, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something about her mind wasn’t right.

Could she have injured her head?

If she turned out like Eric, who had simply lost his memories, it wouldn’t be a big problem.

But as he recalled Eric’s condition, Ernest couldn’t help noticing the difference.

Back when Eric suffered that condition, he could function like anyone else so long as no one brought up the past he couldn’t remember.

However, Elissa was an entirely different matter.

She looked lost—like a frightened doe caught in ring lights.

Her nature had always been tender, not fearful.

Also, the way she spoke felt disjointed, as if her thoughts could barely hold together.

With a furrowed brow, Ernest shut his eyes for a moment, gathering his thoughts.

Savannah had been stubborn, keeping both the truth and Elissa away from him, which left him no choice but to find another path.

He suddenly faced his men, his voice firm with purpose. “I want Elissa’s medical records. Find them for me.”

“Understood, boss,” they answered in unison.

They knew how difficult this would be, especially with Neville and Savannah standing in their way. But the order had been given, and failure wasn’t an option.

After sending Ernest away, Savannah made her way upstairs and quietly entered Elissa’s room.

“Mom, Mom.” Elissa’s voice trembled as soon as she saw her mother, her eyes flicking past Savannah as if searching for someone else.

When she saw no one behind her mother, she pressed her lips together and muttered, “He’s not… here… anymore.”

“That’s right,” Savannah said with a deep frown. “I told him to leave.”

“What…” Elissa whispered, her eyes widening in disbelief. “He’s gone? Really gone?” Her lips trembled. “But… isn’t he… my husband?”

Savannah’s patience broke as she said, “He’s deceiving you! Why are you trusting him?”

The harsh tone made Elissa flinch, her shoulders quivering like a frightened child.

Catching herself, Savannah exhaled and rubbed her temple, her voice softening. “I’m sorry, sweetheart. I didn’t mean to yell. I was just worried… Please, don’t listen to him. He’s not your husband.”

Elissa stared at her uncertainly, hershes fluttering as confusion clouded her gaze.

Moving closer, Savannah sped Elissa’s hand and guided her to sit beside her. She calmly said, “Try to think about it carefully. If that man were truly your husband, wouldn’t he have stayed with you all this time? Wouldn’t you have been living together?”

Her tone softened even more as she added, “Married couples are supposed to share a home, just like your father and me, isn’t that right?”
