?Chapter 2975:
“I guess so. Yeah.” Worry creased Hadley’s brow as doubt flickered across her face. “Looks like Jorge isn’t going to stick around.”
“Already? That was fast. But… what’s with your voice?” Eric asked, confusion in his tone. “Is something wrong? You don’t sound like yourself.”
Hadley replied, letting out a weary sigh, “No, I’m okay. It just feels like we’re not being entirely fair to Jorge.”
“Fair?” Eric let out a shortugh. “Nothing is fair in love and war—fairness simply doesn’te into it, does it? And anyway…”

He continued, “If Jorge can’t handle a little pressure now, how’s he supposed to stick with Dr. Hayes for the long haul?”
A lifetime spent together carried its share of hardships, after all.
“Still…” Hadley couldn’t match hisposure. “This is tough for most people to take in.”
“Not always.” Eric’s voice grew a bit louder. “Some men really wouldn’t care at all. Jorge and Dr. Hayes just aren’t a good match—so now it’s your brother’s chance, right?”
“That’s right.” Letting out a slow breath, Hadley said, “Alright, I’ll leave you to your work.”
“Alright, catch you tonight.”
“Bye for now.”
Hadley wasted no time after ending the call and dialed Brady’s number. The call lingered for a while before it was finally answered.
“Hadley?” Brady’s voice finally came through. “Let me guess—you’re trying to get me to another dinner? I’ve been swampedtely, but as soon as I get a break, I’lle see you and Joy for sure…”
“That’s not why I’m calling, not this time.” Hadley bit her lip, finding it harder to lie naturally to her brother than act in front of a camera. “I called to let you know that Colleen’s unwell.”
Brady remained quiet for a while. “She’s unwell? What do you mean—what kind of illness are we talking about?”
“Calm down. Just hear me out…”
Hadley spoke with calm precision, exining every detail about Colleen’s condition.
Brady didn’t say a thing. The silence stretched so long, Hadley started to wonder if the call had dropped.
“Brady? You still with me?”
“Yeah… I’m here,” he replied eventually, his voice t. A dry, joylessugh followed. “How am I supposed to help her?”
“That’s something only you can decide,” Hadley replied, her tone soft but unwavering.
“Okay,” he murmured. “I understand.”
He hung up without another word.
Still clutching her phone, Hadley stood frozen, unsure how Brady would process the truth she’d just handed him.
Would he walk away from Colleen the same way Jorge just did? Or would this bring back the resentment he’d buried long ago?
When they split, Brady held on and waited for Colleen toe back.
Not long after, however, and with Louise’s persistence, Colleen started seeing Jorge.
It must have wounded Brady. Love had a way of transforming into bitterness over time.
