    Without another word, Ellis offered a small nod, stepped past Eric’s shoulder, and strode ahead.

    With both hands shoved into his pockets, Eric stared, caught off guard. Hadley’s heart had always been his? She told Ellis that?

    Eric lifted his hand and covered his cheek. He couldn’t help but feel embarrassed! Honestly, shouldn’t Hadley have just said that to him herself?

    Just then, the ss door swung open again, and Hadley stepped out.


    “Mr. Scott!” Xander blurted out, rushing to say, “Hadley just came outside!”

    The joy on his face was impossible to hide.


    “Eric…?” Hadley frowned, her brows knitting as she looked him up and down. “Why on earth are you still wearing that?”


    Eric nced down at himself, realizing that he was still wearing the hospital gown.


    With a sheepish grin, he exined, “Didn’t you tell me to wait by the door?”


    Then he shed a teasing smile. “See? I did as I was told. Am I good or what?”


    Hadley shook her head.


    “Isn’t your performance over yet? Are you staying here all night? Shouldn’t you get changed?”


    “Oh, right! I’ll go change now! Xander!”


    “Clothes!”


    “Here, Mr. Scott!”


    After Xander handed him the clothes, Eric gazed at Hadley with anticipation. “I’m going to get changed! Just wait right here for me! I won’t take long!”


    “Alright, alright! I got it!” Hadley waved her hand. “Go on! Hurry up!”


    “Alright!”


    Hadley remained where she was, watching him head into the restroom to change. She didn’t leave right away.


    A momentter, her phone started to ring. Kira’s name shed across the screen.


    Without hesitating, Hadley swiped to pick up. “Kira?”


    “Miss Pearson!” Kira’s voice came through, hurried and strained. “N’s not well. She’s struggling to breathe! I’ve called an ambnce, and they’re taking her to the hospital right now!”


    “What?”


    Hadley froze, her thoughts snapping into focus. N was not well again?


    “I’m already at the hospital. I’ll wait for you here!”


    “Alright!”


    She ended the call, slipped her phone away, and turned to Xander, unable to wait any longer for Eric.


    “N is not feeling well. They’ve taken her to the hospital. I’m going there now!”


    She said firmly, “Stay here and wait for Eric. The moment hees out, tell him to hurry to the ward!”


    “Okay, I understand!”


    After Eric had changed and stepped out, he nced around. But where had Hadley gone?
