?Chapter 2946:
Ellis added, “Onest time. I have a few things I need to tell you.”
Onest time?
Hadley hesitated. Her mind was bing clear, but she still needed to be sure.
“Okay.” She gave a small nod in agreement.
“Let’s meet up in a bit…” Ellis suggested a location. “Are you okay with that?”
“Yeah, that’s fine.”
Hadley didn’t object. She checked the time and said, “I’ll head over now.”
With that, she hung up the phone.
Beside her, Eric was visibly agitated.

He caught Hadley by the arm. “Where are you off to? Don’t tell me you’re going to see Ellis.”
His brows furrowed as he shook his head. “Don’t! You don’t have to meet him again!”
Hadley shot him a sidelong look, her expression calm but distant. “Do I really need your permission to see someone?”
“Absolutely not!” Eric shook his head frantically. “But…”
“So what is it then?” She fixed her gaze on him, her voice sharp. “We still have unfinished business! Hmph!” She pulled her wrist free from his grip.
Then she turned to leave.
“Hadley!”
“Don’t even bother following me!”
After snapping out that warning, Hadley yanked the door open and strode out.
Ernest was still standing in the doorway, unwilling to leave. He stayed behind, worried that Hadley and Eric might argue again.
“Hadley.”
Ernest nced at her, picking up on her mood right away. She didn’t look pleased at all.
“Ernest.” Hadley pursed her lips and grumbled, “What’s your deal? Are you siding with him to give me a hard time now?”
He stood there, unsure what to say, feeling quite awkward.
“Ernest, I’ve got something to take care of, so I’ll head out first…”
Ernest was left speechless.
“Hadley!”
Ernest was about to speak when the hospital door swung open once more, and Eric stepped out.
The moment Ernest saw his brother, his temper red. “Look what you’ve done! Now Hadley’s mad at me too!”
“Ernest, let’s not get into this right now. I need to go after Hadley.”
Eric barely paused before rushing off.
“Stop! Come back!” Ernest grabbed his arm, a scowl creasing his brow. “You really n on running after her like that?”
Eric still had the hospital gown draped over him.
“I’ll grab your clothes!” Xander darted into the hospital room. “Hold on, Mr. Scott. Just give me a second!”
But Eric wasn’t about to stand around waiting.
“I don’t have time to wait!”
If he hesitated another second, Hadley would be long gone!
Before Xander returned with the clothes, Eric had already bolted out of the ward in his hospital gown.
“Mr. Scott, hold up! Wait for me!”
Xander grinned at Ernest. “I’m heading out, Mr. Scott!”
Xander rushed out after Eric, nearly tripping in his hurry.
Ernest was left speechless. He let out a sigh, pressing his hand to his forehead in frustration.
He couldn’t handle any of this, nor did he want to try.
Hadley stepped outside the main building, though she remained within the hospital grounds. Ellis had suggested meeting at the café inside the hospital.
Hadley reached the entrance just as Ellis walked up, and the two of them met right at the door.
“Hadley.” Ellis gave her a small nod.
With a faint smile, Hadley motioned toward the interior. “Let’s go in and talk.”
“Alright.” Ellis moved ahead and held the ss door open. “After you…”
Hadley stepped through the doorway.
“Hadley!”
Eric’s voice rang out from behind her—he’d finally caught up.
Ellis turned his head and said, “It’s Eric.”
Hadley squeezed her eyes shut for a moment, then whipped around, pointing at the man hurrying over.
“Stay there!”
Eric stumbled to a stop.
Looking helpless and a little wounded, he said softly, “Hadley?”
