?Chapter 2919:
Lowering her voice, she demanded, “Why?”
Hadley stared at her in disbelief, unable to follow her logic.
“You’re unbelievable… The Flynn family was never yours. N choosing to take me in has nothing to do with you.”
Linda’s mind was already twisted beyond reason.
Hadley turned away, unwilling to argue any longer.
After thinking for a moment, she shifted the topic.
“Tell me, when did you and Gifford first start working together? In Gifford’s human trafficking ring, what part did you y?”
“Gifford…” Linda forced a crooked smile, her lips twisting with bitterness.
She gave a sharpugh and said, “Do you really think I wanted to join forces with Gifford?”
She gazed at Hadley and slowly shook her head.
“You don’t get it. You understand nothing at all. The truth is, it’s because…
Letty found out I was her daughter!”
Her voice wavered as she grew emotional, her lips trembling.
“My real name was never Linda. I came up with that name myself so no one could track me down! I changed it because I didn’t want them to recognize me. Once I grew up, I no longer looked like the child I used to be. I thought the past would stay buried, that no one could ever connect me to it… But, but…”
Linda’s hands balled into fists as she mmed them against the mattress.
“She still found me!”
Her teeth ttered as she hissed, “She cornered me! If I didn’t obey, she threatened to reveal who I really am! If that happened, everyone would find out I’m the daughter of a human trafficker!”
She drew in a sharp breath, locking her eyes on Hadley.
“Do you realize what that means?”
Answering herself, her voice growing intense, Linda said, “What that means is, I’d have to go back to the life I ran away from! Do you have any idea how scared I was back then? Do you get it?”
???????? ???????????? ????????: ??????????ν?????????????
She gave a quick shake of her head and continued, “No, you could never understand. How could you possibly know what I felt? Haha…”
Linda fixed her gaze on Hadley, a flicker of envy unexpectedly showing in her eyes.
“You may be an orphan, with a father who abandoned you and a mother who died young… but at least your family name remains clean. No matter what, there were still people who cared for you.”
Though Hadley’s mother passed away early, she had loved her dearly, and her grandfather had cherished her as well. Hadley’s grandmother, though already old, never stopped working hard just to raise her.
Even after her grandmother passed away, N’s love for her never wavered.
Sure, N definitely doted on her two grandsons, Ernest and Eric, more.
Still, N’s fondness for Hadley was real and couldn’t be denied.
N always treated Hadley like she was part of the family. Just because N was more partial to her grandsons didn’t erase how well she treated Hadley.
After all, Hadley wasn’t rted to N by blood, yet N took her in and never once asked for anything in return.
“And what about me?”
