?Chapter 2905:
“Thank you.”
“You’re wee.”
After the call ended, Hadley didn’t need to exin further. Ernest and Eric had already overheard everything.
Ernest looked at his brother and said, “This afternoon, you apany Hadley there.”
“Okay…”
“Ernest.” Hadley frowned slightly, lowering her voice.
“Eric is still hurt.”
“Yes, he is.” Ernest eyed his brother.
“Will it be too much for you?”
Eric quickly shook his head.
“No, I’m fine. My treatments are on schedule, and I’m recovering well. Besides, I’m only apanying Hadley. It won’t wear me out.”
“Did you hear that?” Ernest said to Hadley.
“Then it’s settled. Things have been a bit uncertaintely, so be careful. Let Eric go with you. If Chelsey wants to see you at such a critical time, she must have something important to say.”
He couldn’t tell if that was a blessing or a warning.
They stood to gain if things turned out well.
If things went south, having Eric nearby would put his mind at ease.
“Alright,” Hadley agreed.
“Then I’ll do as you say, Ernest.” She gave Eric a quick look and added, “Thanks for being there with me.”
Eric stayed quiet for a moment.
Was there any reason for her to thank him? Why was she acting so distant?
Was Hadley hurt—or angry? Or maybe it had something to do with Ellis…
????????????’?? ????????: ?????????ν?????????????
Could that be why she was keeping him at arm’s length?
Eric’s lips twisted into a smile, sadness flickering in his eyes.
“Don’t worry about it.”
He couldn’t bear to see her growing estranged from him.
By the time afternoon rolled around, once the doctor finished tending the wound on Eric’s back, he and Hadley set out together for White Lake Prison.
When the visitation paperwork was done, they met Chelsey in the visiting room.
Eric chose not to go in, so he wouldn’t disrupt their conversation. He stayed by the doorway, just far enough back that he could glimpse inside if he lifted his gaze.
“Chelsey.”
“Hadley.”
With the ss partition between them, the two sat facing each other.
A gentle smile yed on Hadley’s lips.
“Something came up at home a few days ago, so I couldn’t visit you.”
“I know.” Chelsey frowned a little and nodded.
“Hadley, I’ve been keeping up with the news in here.”
News about the missing children from both the Flynn and Scott families had spread across the inte, with people everywhere talking, and rewards being offered. Even inside the prison, Chelsey had heard all about it.
Chelsey watched Hadley’s face and asked, “From the way you look, I’m guessing the kids have been found, right?”
