?Chapter 2892:
Ellis tapped several points marked across the map.
“Next, we seal every exit. This time, they won’t slip away.”
Lifting his head, he locked eyes with Ernest.
“Mr. Flynn, we’ll split up.”
“Understood,” Ernest answered without the slightest pause.
With the n set, both men gathered their teams and moved out in opposite directions. Ellis led his group toward the farthest exit.
“Two men stay on guard outside. The rest of you—follow me in!”
“Yes, sir!” came the chorus.
The moment they stepped inside, the passage swallowed them inplete darkness.
“Keep sharp,” Ellis warned, his voice low but firm.
“This ce hasn’t been mapped in years. We’re walking blind.”
“Understood!” his men replied.
shlights flickered on, their beams cutting through the suffocating ck as the group advanced cautiously, one measured step at a time.
After what felt like an eternity, murmurs rippled among the men.
“There are too many tunnels in here…”
“Yeah. Forks everywhere. It’s a real maze.”
Suddenly, a faint rustling echoed nearby.
Ellis’s eyes sharpened. He raised his shlight toward the sound, his voice cutting through the dark.
“Who’s there?!”
The beam caught a flicker of movement—a figure darting past in the shadows.
“This way!” Ellis barked, motioning with his arm, and charged forward with his men in pursuit.

But when they reached the spot, the man was gone.
“Chief, was it this direction?” one of the officers asked nervously.
Ellis didn’t answer.
He knew the figure had fled this way, but with countless forks branching off, the man could already be anywhere.
“Fan out and search! He’s close!”
“Yes, sir!”
The team split, scattering into different tunnels.
The air grew damp and oppressive as Ellis pressed forward. The ceiling was so low he had to stoop, each step an effort in the cramped passage.
Thud!
A muffled noise came from behind.
Ellis spun instantly. But before he could speak, something heavy—stone or brick—mmed into the back of his head.
“Ugh!” The force made him stagger, his vision bursting with sparks as pain rattled through his skull.
Rage surged, and before his mind caught up, his body reacted.
He whipped around, his leg snapping upward in a sharp kick.
“Ahhh!”
