Chapter 2227

    ?Chapter 2227:

“Understood.” Phillips made a brief phone call, and within moments, the medical professional appeared in the doorway.

“Mr. Scott,” the doctor announced his presence as he stepped across the threshold into the residence.

“Thank you foring.” Eric indicated the upholstered chair positioned directly across from his seat. “Please, make yourselffortable.”

“Thank you for your hospitality.” The doctor epted the invitation graciously, settling into the designated chair as requested.

Eric wasted no time. “Have the test results arrived?”

“Not all of them,” the doctor admitted with obvious reluctance. “However, a portion of the blood analysis has returned, and… we’ve discovered a deeply troubling irregrity. I contacted Mr. Brown the moment I received these results.”

“An irregrity?” Eric’s brows drew together in sharp concern. “Exin exactly what you’ve found.”

The doctor hesitated before continuing. “Ourboratory has identified traces of a potent neuroinhibitorypound circting in Miss Pearson’s bloodstream.”

The doctor proceeded to recite a lengthy series ofplex medical terms, none of which held any meaning for Eric. The specifics felt irrelevantpared to the gravity of the situation.

“What exactly does that mean?” Eric demanded, his voice cutting through the air with razor-sharp intensity.

“This particrpound was used several decades ago in the treatment of certain neurological conditions, but medical authoritiester banned itpletely due to its unmanageable side effects,” the doctor exined gravely.

“Unmanageable side effects?” A cold wave of dread cascaded down Eric’s spine, his scalp prickling with terror. “What specific kinds of side effects are we talking about?”

The doctor continued. “This substance can trigger progressive nerve paralysis throughout the body. In the early stages, patients typically experience overwhelming fatigue and persistent drowsiness…”

He faltered as Eric’s posture stiffened, another icy shiver racing down his spine while his entire frame tensed with dread.

“Mr. Scott?” The doctor quickly noticed the dramatic change in Eric’s expression.

Eric gestured sharply for him to go on. “Don’t stop. Tell me everything.”

The doctor gave a grave nod. “If exposure continues over time, the patient is likely to suffer terrifying hallucinations, disturbing auditory delusions, and eventually slip intoplete unconsciousness. In the most severe cases, this progression can end in a permanent vegetative state, total respiratory failure, or even death. That was why thepound was banned in the first ce.”

Eric’s eyes darkened into pools of midnight, his stare steely and unforgiving. His hands curled into white-knuckled fists as the full weight of this nightmare sank in.

“Mr. Scott…” The doctor noted his increasingly dangerous expression and chose his next words with extreme care. “Thankfully, Miss Pearson has not yet progressed to the most life-threatening phase of poisoning.”

Eric let out a coldugh, though not a trace of humor touched his voice.
