Chapter 2118

    ?Chapter 2118:

He then exined further, his voice taking on a more serious tone. “These documents differ significantly from a traditional will because they’re signed while Eric is still alive, ensuring that absolutely no one can challenge your rights or cause trouble for you and your daughter. Signing these documents ensures the maximum possible benefit and protection for both you and your daughter.”

After finishing his exnation, he looked directly at Hadley. “Have I made everything clear? Do you have any questions?”

Hadley remainedpletely silent, her mind struggling to process his stunning words.

The pen in her trembling hand felt impossibly heavy, weighted with significance. She lifted her gaze to the man sitting beside her, her heart hammering wildly against her ribs. Hesitant and frightened, she asked, “Eric, why are you doing this? Why is he making such arrangements, like he’s going to drop dead tomorrow?”

“Just sign them,” Eric smiled gently at her, noticing how her eyes began to brim with unshed tears. His heart melted at the vulnerable sight.

He coaxed her with infinite tenderness, “It’s simply a precaution, nothing more.”

Hadley’s thick eyshes fluttered as she stubbornly refused to meet his gaze. “Please, just trust me on this.”

Eric leaned closer, his warm breath whispering against her ear. “Anything can happen in life. I need to make sure you and Joy are properly taken care of… If something were to happen to me, my siblings would certainly leave you with absolutely nothing.”

He continued with quiet urgency, “Ferris won’t even bother to protect you. I can’t count on anyone else to look after you by then, so I have to do something while I still can. Please sign them, so I can finally have some peace of mind, okay?”

Hadley’s throat constricted painfully, her voice trembling with emotion as she gripped the pen tightly. “Where do I sign?”

“I’ll show you exactly where,” Eric patiently guided her with careful attention. “Right here, yes… then here… and finally here…”

Across from them, Cristian observed the intimate scene with growing awe. He immediately took back every one of his earlier harsh words. There was no way Eric was a desperate simp. The man was a genuine, hopeless romantic!

After bidding Cristian farewell, Eric and Hadley climbed the stairs together to check on Joy’s condition. As they stepped away from Joy’s room, Eric nced down at Hadley, concern etched across his features.

“I can manage the journey home alone. The night has grownte, and you should get some rest.”

“It’s perfectly fine,” Hadley shook her head with gentle determination. “I’ll apany you to the door.”

She persisted with quiet resolve, and he chose not to press the matter further. They walked together until they reached the front doorway.

“This distance will suffice,” Eric dered, pivoting to face her, only to discover Hadley standing with her chin tucked low, radiating an unmistakable mncholy.

To be entirely urate, this shadow had clung to her ever since he’d asked her to ce her signature on those legal documents.

Eric understood the truth that gnawed at her—Hadley feared he might not emerge from the operating room alive.
