Chapter 1492

    ?Chapter 1492:

    “Thanks,” Eric said, heading outside.

The doors led to a lush garden bordering an artificialke, its circting water system creating a soft, trickling melody near the entrance. Interwoven with the sound were Hadley and Joy’s bright giggles.

Eric quickened his steps, spotting them crouched by theke, their heads bent close together.

He cleared his throat gently, announcing his presence without startling them, and then approached, standing behind them.

“What are you two scheming about?” he asked, his tone warm and curious.

Joy sprang up, waving her small hand excitedly. “Mommy’s making me a whistle!”

    “Is that so?”

Eric’s eyes flicked to Hadley, intrigued. A whistle? It looked like… a peach pit.

“Let me take a look,” he said, reaching for the object in Joy’s hand.

“No way! This one’s mine!” Joyughed, yanking her hand back and clutching the pit to her chest. She pointed at Hadley. “Mommy’s got one too. Ask her for hers!”

    “Oh, I see…”

Eric chuckled, lifting Joy into his arms and crouching beside Hadley. He reached out, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

    “So, what’s the project here?”

“You can’t tell?” Hadley nced up, her eyes teasing. “Here…”

She held up the peach pit in her hand, a remnant from the fruit she and Joy had shared after dinner. One side was worn through, the other smoothed down.

“Once I finish this side, I’ll hollow out the kernel and clean it. It’ll be a proper whistle you can blow,” Hadley exined.

“That’s incredible,” Eric said, ying up his amazement.

    Stories live now on galnσ??????????o??

Hadley gave him a skeptical look. “You never made these when you were young?”

“Not really…” Eric shook his head, his voice softening. “Growing up, just having food on the table was a win.”

Hadley nodded, understanding, and returned to smoothing the pit. “All done!” she finally announced.

“Mommy!” Joy bounced eagerly. “Can I blow it now?”

“Not yet,” Hadley said, holding it back. “It’s still dirty. We need to clean it first.”

She stood, brushing off her hands. “Let’s head inside to wash it.”

“Yay!” Joy tugged at Eric’s sleeve. “Hurry, Eric!”

“Coming!” Eric grinned, following them back to the house.

Inside, Hadley carefully rinsed the peach pit and demonstrated how to blow it.

“Like this…” She blew, producing a sharp, clear note.

Joy’s eyes sparkled. “Whoa! Mommy, you’re the best! My turn! Let me try!”

“Here you go.” Hadley handed it over, adding, “But no blowing it at night, okay? It’ll bother people trying to rest.”

“I know!” Joy nodded, beaming.<fn3588> Original content can be found at </fn3588>
