Chapter 1436

    ?Chapter 1436:

She shot him a look. “So, just because I asked about Megan, you think that means I like you?”

“Obviously.” Eric tilted his chin slightly. “Would you get mad if you saw Phillips with a woman?”

Hadley blinked, taken off guard. She didn’t have aeback. So, deciding to be direct herself, she figured she might as well lean into it.

“Fine,” she said, with a small nod. “I’ll be honest. I’ve been thinking about us.” Too much had happened between them. This vague in-between wasn’t sustainable. Sooner orter, something had to give.

Eric’s expression brightened, and he grabbed her hand, holding it tightly.

Hadley looked him straight in the eye.

“Let me be clear. If we move forward, there’s no room for other women.” Her voice was firm. “I don’t care how powerful the Scott family is, or how other rich people in your circle do things. I won’t stay with someone who doesn’t know how to be loyal.”

“You don’t have to worry.” Eric didn’t hesitate. “I’m not that kind of man. If I have you, that’s enough.”<fn6b16> Checktest chapters at Find~Novel</fn6b16>

He took a breath and added, “Megan’s from the Aston family. I don’t have feelings for her. I just didn’t want to humiliate her or cause trouble for her family.”

    Hadley pouted.

“Listen.” Eric raised a hand and gently touched her cheek. “If you agree to be with me, she’ll back off on her own.”

He thought for a second, then smiled. “Why don’t we make it public so the entire world knows?”

“Make what public?” Hadley frowned. “Did I say yes? I thought I was clear—I still need time.”

Naturally, she needed to see what he would do and how he’d act.

Eric could tell, but he still looked confident. His smile didn’t waver. “No problem. I’ll prove myself.”

In his mind, the matter seemed settled.

Hadley stared at him, overwhelmed by everything—but then suddenly narrowed her eyes. “Did you take your herbal remedy?”

She was close enough to tell. There was no trace of it on his breath.

“Uh… no.” Eric froze and gave a sheepish shake of his head.

    Hadley’s expression darkened. “Eric!”

“I was wrong! I was wrong!” He quickly reached for her hands, panic rising in his voice. “Don’t get mad. I’ll take it now—right now! I promise!”

He let go and stood up in a rush. But just as he straightened, he leaned in again—his smiling face suddenly close.

He pressed a quick kiss to her lips.

Before she could react, he pulled back. “I’m going to take my medicine!” he said with a grin, and then turned and dashed out.

Hadley sat frozen, eyes still fixed on the door. She slowly lifted her fingers to her lips.
