?Chapter 1355:
Eric, capable of sacrificing everything for her and their daughter, had also wounded her deeply, time and again.
“You bastard!”
Hadley’s teeth clenched as she hammered her fists against his chest.
“Why did you do it? Why?”
“Hadley…” Eric didn’t resist, only pulled her closer, his embrace steady despite her blows.<fn6e2c> Chapters first released on FindN0vel</fn6e2c>
“I’ll change,” he vowed, his voice low and fervent. “Just give me this one chance. I swear it won’t happen again. Please, trust me—there won’t be another mistake.”
Exhausted, Hadley’s hands fell limp, her eyes shutting as silent tears continued to fall.
Should she give him another chance? She wasn’t certain he could do this.
Could she ever move past it herself? The pain of Eric’s betrayal was a splinter embedded in her heart, perhaps never to be dislodged. In the end, they reached a quiet stalemate. Eric settled for changing into fresh clothes, nothing more.
Hadley gathered the soiled clothes, her voice subdued. “Get some sleep. I’ll be in the next room.”
“Alright,” Eric murmured, not protesting.
Hadley, having stayed awake all night by his side, needed rest as much as he did.
When Eric stirred again, sunlight poured into the room, bathing it in warmth. His eyes fluttered open, nding on a tender scene. Joy, his daughter, sat by his bedside, her small hands busy with her toys, while Hadley watched over her.
“You’re awake?” Joy’s face lit up with a bright grin as she turned to him. Hadley gave a soft, exasperated sigh. “She was adamant about seeing you. I only brought her after she promised not to disturb your rest.”
“It’s okay,” Eric said warmly, his heart lifting at the sight of them. “I don’t mind at all.”
The moment was interrupted by the sharp trill of Hadley’s phone. She nced at the screen.
“Hello?” she said, her tone shifting to concern. “What’s wrong, Melba?”

“Hadley!” Melba’s voice crackled through, ced with urgency and a hint of fear. “There are people at our apartment… They say they’re here to help us move!”
“What?” Hadley’s brow creased with confusion. “Who are they?”
“Just a moment…” The voice on the line became muffled. Melba seemed to be handing the phone to someone else. A momentter, a man’s voice echoed from the receiver.
“Miss Pearson, it’s me. I’ve arrived to assist with the relocation.”
Recognition flickered across Hadley’s face instantly. “Cordell?” she questioned, perplexity evident in her tone. His presence at Milnd Road made no sense whatsoever.
Hadley’s gaze snapped to Eric, suspicion darkening her features. “Did you dispatch Cordell to my ce without telling me?”
“No.” Eric’s head swiveled side to side, genuine confusion etched across his face. He extended his palm toward her. “Let me have the phone. I need to understand what’s happening.”
“Fine,” she conceded reluctantly.
Eric epted the device, bringing it to his ear. “Cordell, it’s Eric.”
“Mr. Scott. Here’s the situation…”
