?Chapter 1261:
Indeed, Eric had not intended to bring her along originally.
He worried about the potential for confrontation with Remy; he might have to take action, and he didn’t want Hadley to be rmed by the situation…
However, he realized he had no other option but to include her now that she knew.
Attempting to soothe her, he said, “Have your meal, and then we can head out together, okay?”
“I’ve already finished eating.” With a determined nod, Hadley said, “Let’s leave right now.”
Left with no alternative, Eric turned to Cordell. “Take him to the garden.”
“Understood, Mr. Scott.”
At the garden,
The chill of thete spring evening was noticeable. Lacking a woman’s coat in his ce, Eric offered Hadley his own cashmere cardigan, taking care to button it for her.
“Do you feel any warmer now?”
“Indeed,” Hadley responded. “Thanks.”
“My pleasure.”
As Cordell escorted the man forward, Remy’s reluctance to move quickly prompted a bodyguard to nudge him harshly in the knee.
“Move faster! Do you think you’re that important to keep Mr. Scott waiting?”
“Ow!” Remy let out a cry, copsing to the ground and wincing in agony.
“Stay back and observe—keep your distance.”
After giving Hadley’s hand a reassuring squeeze, Eric approached Remy, whoy crumpled on the ground.
With a cold sneer, he said, “Look up!”
As Remy looked up, his expression twisted. Hisplexion paled upon recognizing Eric.
“Mr. F… I mean, Mr. Scott!”
Eric merely gestured toward Hadley without a word. “Show her your face properly.”
“Right, right!”
Obediently, Remy turned to face Hadley.
With the garden lights illuminating the scene, Hadley’s vision was clear. She scrutinized him, perplexed.
“It’s you!”
“Do you recognize this man?” Eric asked.
“Yes,” Hadley said with a nod.
She didn’t recall the name Remy initially, but his face was unmistakable as one of the security personnel at Gnt.
Her confusion deepened. “What issue could you possibly have with me? What led you to target me?”
It was crucial to resolve this confusion. If not addressed, it could remain a lingering threat.
Remy began to exin hesitantly. “I just couldn’t stand you… ah!” He was abruptly cut off as a bodyguard delivered a sharp kick to his back.
Hadley pulled back, instinctively turning her head aside.
