Chapter 1211

    ?Chapter 1211:

“We’ve worked it out—I’m with Joy during the day, he stays at night.”

But something about the ease in her tone didn’t sit right.

Denver sensed something was off. It wasn’t obvious, but it lingered beneath her calm exterior.

His throat tightened, and after a brief pause, he asked quietly,

“You and Eric… did you guys get back together?”

Hadley paused, immediately understanding why Denver had asked. Maybe it was because she and Eric had been getting along too welltely—too naturally, too easily.

“We are not back together,” she said with a shake of her head, her voice calm. A faint smile tugged at her lips as she added,

“We’ve just made peace, that’s all.”

“Made peace?” Denver repeated, his brows drawing together as he tried to read between the lines.

He wanted to believe her, but the word still sat strangely in his mind. Yet beneath the confusion, something bloomed—relief.

“So… you really aren’t back together?” he asked, needing to hear it again.

    “No. We’re not.”

    Hadley let out a quietugh.

Denver blinked, caught between surprise and quiet delight. The tension in his chest finally eased.

He’d worried that once Hadley found out what Eric had done for her and Joy, she might have second thoughts…

    But she hadn’t.

Which meant—he still had a chance.

He masked the growing hope in his chest, reminding himself to stay patient. Joy was still recovering, and he had promised to wait.

    “Denver…”

    “Hadley!”

They spoke at the same time.

Hadley smiled and gestured for him to go first.

    “Yes?”

Denver said, his grin slipping in with ease,

“I was wondering where you are headed. Can I give you a ride?”

Just then, the elevator doors opened, and they stepped into the cool stillness of the basement parking lot.

“No need.” Hadley smiled and shook her head, gesturing toward a nearby spot.

    “I drove myself.”

    “Oh… I see.”

Denver’s smile faded slightly, his eyes dimming with the—

Hadley reached into her bag and pulled out her keys. Her voice remained light.

“I’ve got a dubbing session for the show I was in. No idea how long it’ll run, so I figured it’d be easier to take my own car.”

    “Yeah… that makes sense.”

“My car’s parked over there,” she said, nodding toward the far side of the lot.
