Chapter 1207

    ?Chapter 1207:

Eric agreed with a nod. “We’ll opt for a month then.”

Turning to Hadley, he sought her confirmation. “Does that sound good?”

“Yes, that works for us,” Hadley said, nodding in agreement.

“Great, that’s decided then,” Josue said with a reassuring smile. “The nurse will be bringing Joy out shortly; you can go see her.”

With that, they left the office and headed toward the sterile unit to see Joy.

After a brief wait, they watched as the nurse brought Joy out.

Hadley was the first to approach, eximing, “Joy!”

“Mom!” From her bed, Joy looked up, her small frame noticeable beneath the covers, now free of medical wires. Though slightly thinner, she appeared much as—

She had before the surgery. She stretched her arms toward her mother.

    “Hug!”

Hadley paused, ncing at the nurse.

    “Is that alright?”

    “Absolutely, go ahead.”

Reassured, Hadley wasted no more time and gently lifted Joy from the bed.

Only then did a wave of relief wash over her, calming her anxious heart.

“Hey, Eric!” Joy’s eyes lit up the moment she spotted Eric standing just behind Hadley. “Are you here to pick me up?”

“Of course,” he replied with a soft smile, his gaze falling gently on her rosy cheeks.

“I promised, didn’t I?” Eric opened his arms to her. “And I always keep my promises. Want me to carry you?”

Joy hesitated for a moment, her eyes drifting to Hadley.

    “Mommy?”

Hadley chuckled quietly and gave a small nod.

    “Go ahead.”

She helped ease Joy into Eric’s arms.

“My sweet girl,” he murmured, holding his daughter close and pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “Lean on me—I’ll carry you back.”

“Okay!” Joy beamed, clinging tightly to him.

Down the hall, the door to a nearby hospital room stood open. Brady had been waiting, craning his neck to watch for them.

He’d been discharged two days earlier, but knowing Joy was leaving the sterile unit today, he made a point toe.

From a distance, he caught sight of Eric walking toward him with Joy in his arms and quickly stepped forward.

    “Joy!”

“Uncle Brady!” Joy’s eyes lit up again at the sight of Brady.

“Come here,” Brady said with a grin as he opened his arms wide. “Let me hold you!”

    “Okay!”

She shifted easily from Eric’s arms to Brady’s embrace.

Brady hugged her tightly, then pulled back slightly to look her over.

“Let me see you—look at you! You’re glowing.”
