    It was genuine—pure joy for her friend.


    “Hadley, your hardships are finally behind you!”


    Hadley blinked, caught off guard by the embrace, but then her lips curved into a warm smile. “Yes… it seems so.”


    “That’s amazing…” Elissa murmured, wiping her eyes.


    Elissa asked about Joy and was surprised to hear that she wouldn’t be out of the sterile room just yet. Her brows lifted in mild shock as she pointed to the bags on the floor.


    “Melba sent a mountain of food.”


    “Definitely eat it,” Hadley replied with a lightugh. “And once Joy is back, we’ll make her something fresh.”


    “Absolutely,” Elissa said, chuckling. “Joy’s starting a brand-new chapter after the transnt. She deserves the best of everything.” Still chatting andughing, the two carried the bags inside.


    The ward was quiet, peaceful.


    As they put things away, they continued talking.


    “With everything happening around Joy, I haven’t even asked about you,” Hadley said, turning to Elissa. “How have you been holding up?”


    “I’m good,” Elissa replied with a nod, and then brightened as a thought struck her. “Oh! I recently applied for a designer role and passed the initial screening.”


    “Really?” Hadley’s face lit up.

    “That’s amazing—congrattions!”


    Elissa waved a hand modestly, smiling. “Nothing’s set in stone yet. I submitted my resume and portfolio. They were interested and reached out. Still, I need to go through the interview. So we’ll see.”


    “Well, that’s already a great start!” Hadley encouraged. “There’s hope, and that’s something.”


    Then, as another thought crossed her mind, she asked, “What about the divorce?”


    “Noplications so far…” Elissa said as she pulled out a chair and sat down. “I’ve drafted the agreement and sent it to Robin. Just waiting on his response now.”

    She added calmly, “It’s pretty straightforward. No demands, no property division. We don’t have children, so there’s nothing to fight over. Once he signs, it’s done.”


    “Got it!” Hadley nodded, her expression soft with understanding.


    That night, Hadley remained in the ward as usual.


    Even though Joy wasn’t there, Hadley wanted to remain nearby, ready in case something arose that required family presence.


    Noreen had chosen not to stay overnight, probably reassured by Brady’s improving condition and knowing that there was a caregiver avable.


    After Noreen left, Hadley stopped by Brady’s room to check on him, feeding him water and a warm bowl of soup.


    Bradyughed softly. “Hadley, there’s no need to fuss over me like this. Dr. Duncan already said I could leave after resting another week.”


    “Stay a bit longer,” Hadley said gently.


    Hadley gently insisted, furrowing her brow. “You’ve been hospitalized twice this year already, and both times involved major surgeries. For my peace of mind, could you just stay here and rest properly?”


    Brady couldn’t refuse her earnest concern. “Alright, alright. I’ll stay.” He agreed with an easyugh, carefree and youthful.
