Chapter 1183

    ?Chapter 1183:

Cordell walked in, nked by his men.

Hadley recognized Cordell instantly, and a wave of dread washed over her. The sting in her finger sharpened with it.

Was Cordell here because something had happened to Eric?

“Perfect timing.” Cordell controlled his fury, extending his arm. “In respect for Mr. Scott, I’ll keep this civil. You’ll have toe with me.”

A frown crossed Hadley’s face, but she stayed silent and moved forward without protest.

Eric had been transferred from the emergency unit to a VIP suite in the internal medicine department.

“Go right ahead.” Cordell positioned himself at the door, swinging it open and shoving Hadley inside.

She stumbled a couple of steps, nearly falling, but managed to steady herself.

Across the room, Ferris sat like a storm waiting to break. His gaze cut through her.

With a curt gesture of his hand, he signaled his men. “Tie her up.”

    “Yes, sir!”

    Hadley tensed up.

Two guards advanced quickly, wrapping thick ropes around her upper body.

“What are you doing?” Hadley was shocked, struggling in vain. She red at Ferris. “Let me go! You have no right to do this!”

“How could you be so heartless?” Ferris dismissed her protests, his eyes locked on her expression as he gestured toward the inner room. “Look. Look at him closely!”

Through the ss wall, Hadley raised her eyes and saw Eric lying in bed, a nurse by his side.

“Because of you, my son’s life is now hanging by a thread!” Ferris’ face twisted with hatred as he ground his teeth. “If he survives this, I’ll let you go. Otherwise—”

He didn’t finish the sentence, unwilling to curse his own son. After a breath, his voice dropped—deadly and deliberate. “You won’t make it either.”

    Hadley’s spine stiffened.

In the next instant, the guards shoved her onto a couch like a sack of guilt.

Ferris stood, cold fury in his stance, and nced at Cordell. “Watch her closely. If anything goes wrong, you know the consequences.”

    “Yes, sir!”

They left, and silence fell like a curtain.

Hadley sat frozen, eyes locked on the transparent barrier between her and Eric.

She couldn’t see Eric’s face as hey there, his body blocking her view. Yet the life-support machine revealed a haunting truth—were his injuries truly so severe that he could no longer breathe on his own?

    Why? What had happened?

Hadley looked up at the bodyguard beside her. “What happened to him?”

The bodyguard looked at her with frosted indifference. “You seriously don’t know? Mr. Scott was bitten twice by a coral snake while carrying your brother and walked in the mountains for over two hours. In the absence of urgent treatment, the poison coursed through his veins, seizing control of his muscles and shutting down his lungs.”

Hadley’s body trembled, her face draining of color as the reality hit her.

    It was that dire!
