?Chapter 1155:
“Yes,” Quentin answered. “She started a few days ago.”
“Doing what?”
“Warehouse manager.”
That sounded grueling. Ernest’s brow creased instantly.
He couldn’t fathom why she would rush into such demanding work, especially a role so unrted to her talents and physically taxing.
She didn’t need to struggle like this.
She was a designer—she belonged in stylish outfits, with perfect makeup, seated in a cozy office, sketching creations.
“Quentin.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Make arrangements.”
“Understood, Sir.”
Two weeks flew by quietly.
During these two weeks, everything remained calm. Nothing stirred. With Xander and Theodore stationed at Hadley’s ce, Noreen hadn’t made a move.
Each day, Xander called Eric with updates. “Everything’s fine today.” Eric began to wonder if he had overreacted. Or maybe Brady had said or done something to keep Noreen in check.
In reality, Brady was grown and determined to have the surgery. Noreen’s objections couldn’t stop him.
On the day Joy was supposed to be admitted to the hospital, Eric arrived at Hadley’s ce at dawn.
Hadley opened the door. “You’re here. Come in.”
“Alright.”
Over the past two weeks, every time Eric hade and picked up Joy, he had done it through Melba, never seeing Hadley.

Today, with Joy’s hospital visit, avoidance wasn’t an option. He finally saw her again.
These days, even a glimpse of her felt like a rare gift.
Eric stepped into the living room.
“Eric!” Joy was awake. Hearing his voice, she raced over. “You’re here!”
Eric scooped her up, kissing her soft cheeks. “Joy, today’s your hospital day, so of course I’m here for you.”
The doorbell chimed again, and Hadley went to answer.
It was Brady.
“Hadley,” Brady said, shing a warm grin. “I’m here. Ready to head to the hospital?”
They exchanged smiles.
“Come in. It’s still early—grab some breakfast first.”
“Bet on it. I showed up starving!”
After breakfast, the group split into two cars and made their way to the hospital.
Brady had arranged the hospital room in advance. A nurse was waiting when they arrived. She guided them in, helped them settle, and handled the admission paperwork.
Not long after, Josue came by to check on them. “Over the next few days, we’ll be doing tests and preparing for surgery. Take time to get familiar with the hospital, get plenty of rest, and make necessary adjustments to your meals and daily routine.”
