?Chapter 1122:
“Take a good look at yourself, Astrid.” Brady exhaled sharply, shaking his head in disbelief. “And you’re asking why I didn’t tell you the truth? Do you even see Hadley as your sister?”
“That’s because she is not my sister!” Astrid retorted defiantly. “We don’t share the same mother! How could she be my sister?”
Brady pursed his lips in frustration. “You don’t know right from wrong! I knew this would happen. That’s why I didn’t tell you!”
In one swift motion, he seized her wrist. “Enough! Stop making a spectacle out here. We are going home.”
“Fine! Let’s go home! What, you think I’m scared of you?”
“Get inside!” Brady barked.
“Ow!” Astrid yelped as Brady gave her a firm push through the doorway. “Brady, be gentle! I’m your real sister! You shower that troublemaker Hadley with nothing but kindness, but with me, you are so cruel. Why are you treating me like this?”
“And what’s so wrong about treating her with kindness and care? She’s family!”
“She’s not!”
“What’s going on here?” Noreen asked as she descended the stairs. “I could hear you two arguing from upstairs. What’s the disagreement about this time?”
“Mom!” Astrid cried, instantly perking up at the sight of Noreen. She rushed over, clung to her arm, and pointed at Brady. “I caught him red-handed! Remember how he swore he wasn’t seeing Hadley anymore?” Her eyes narrowed with satisfaction as she continued, “He left the house earlier than usual today, so I followed him. And guess what? He went to see Hadley. They even went to the hospital together!”
“Is Astrid telling the truth?” Noreen turned to her son, suspicion creeping into her tone. “Is this true, Brady?”
Brady frowned and rubbed his forehead. He then replied, “Yes.”
“Ha!” Astrid let out a victoriousugh. “Mom, did you hear that? He admitted it! Since he bought Hadley a car, you have to make him buy one for me too!”
“Enough!” Noreen suddenly snapped at her daughter. “Stop bickering!”
???? ??????? ?? ?????????.???
“Mom?” Astrid reeled back, startled. Tears threatened to spill from her wide eyes. “Are you yelling at me?”
“Foolish girl!” Noreen was so furious she couldn’t even bring herself to respond to her daughter’s nonsense. “We will talk about thister!” She then turned her scrutiny to Brady. “Brady, why were you at the hospital? Are you feeling unwell? Didn’t the surgery after the car ident go well?”
Noreen’s thoughts churned. “Even if you are really unwell, why go to the hospital with Hadley? Is this about her?”
“Mom…” Brady’s brows furrowed, the headache behind his eyes intensifying.
He hadn’t expected Astrid to stir up so much trouble.
“The thing is…” He hesitated.
“Out with it!” Noreen demanded, her voice firm. “Tell me the truth, and don’t try to fool me! Does this have something to do with Hadley? Is she unwell? Did you go to apany her?”
“Mom,” Astrid called out, suddenly remembering something. “Right! Hadley was holding a child! Oh…” Her eyes widened in shock. “That brat called Brady her uncle! Yes, that’s exactly what she called him!”
“Astrid!” Brady’s patience snapped. “Hadley is your sister! Watch your words!”
He turned back to Noreen and said, “Hadley is my sister, Mom. Is there something wrong with me looking after her?”
He gritted his teeth and let out a pointed remark. “Of all people, you should know how Astrid and I came into this world and how our family has the life we do now.” After saying that, he stormed upstairs.
