Chapter 1120

    ?Chapter 1120:

As soon as the door closed behind him, Wilma rubbed her temples in frustration. “What are we supposed to do now? Has Hadley cast some kind of spell on him?”

Roderick gave his wife a long look, then sighed. “What can we do? He’s made his feelings clear. You’ve done everything you could to stop him, but everything failed. Maybe it’s time to let it go. He’s our only son, after all.”

“Let it go?” Wilma repeated, still unwilling to ept defeat.

“Yes.” Roderick nodded. “Maybe it’s our constant resistance that’s made him so determined. If he finally gets what he wants… are you sure it’llst?”

He chuckled faintly. “Let’s just let it y out.”

Wilma exhaled, reluctant but thoughtful. “You might be right.” Could Denver really overlook Hadley’s past?

Being together for a lifetime was more than just words.

“Alright,” she murmured. “We’ll do it your way.”

The next morning, Hadley woke to a message from Denver. “I’m downstairs, waiting for you.”

It had been sent at five. Now, it was already seven.

She hurried to the window and looked down—Denver’s car was still parked there. He hadn’t left?

    She rushed downstairs.

“Hadley.” Denver stepped out of the car, a radiant smile on his face, holding a bouquet of fresh flowers. “You’re up. These are for you.”

“Thank you.” She epted the flowers, eyeing him curiously. “You’re here so early…”

“I couldn’t wait to see you.” He scratched the back of his head, sheepish but joyful. “I talked to my parentsst night. They’ve agreed not to interfere anymore!”

Hadley was stunned. He’d actually gotten through to Wilma? But she couldn’t bring herself to celebrate.

    “Denver…” Her chest tightened.

She didn’t know how to say what she needed to say. “After everything that happened in the, and everything since… In my mind, we were over. I never imagined a future with you after that.”

Your next story is at gα?ησν????s

“I understand.” His smile dimmed slightly, disappointment flickering in his eyes. “But… could you start considering it now?”

Hadley hesitated, surprised by his persistence.

After a pause, she said, “Denver, Joy’s about to have her surgery, and right now I just…”

“I get it.” He nodded, sincere. “Joyes first.”

He met her gaze, his words measured and careful. “There’s no rush. I just wanted you to know how I feel.”

His earnestness touched her, but she still couldn’t bring herself to agree. “Denver… things have changed. Do you understand?”

Yes, once she’d considered a future with him. But that was a different time. A different Hadley. Now, everything was different.

She shook her head. “I can’t…”

“Hadley!” He stepped closer, his voice urgent. “Even if you’re not ready, please don’t shut me outpletely.”

He looked at her with quiet hope. “Just because it’s not a yes now doesn’t mean it’s always a no… right?”
