Chapter 1090

    ?Chapter 1090:

As her mind swirled with questions, a loud growl from the woman’s stomach caught her attention. It was definitely the sound of hunger. The woman smiled sheepishly and said, “I’m hungry.”

“Got it,” Hadley replied with a gentle smile. She then turned to the maid. “Could you please get her some food?”

“Of course, I’ll do that right away.” The maid immediately rushed off.

Shortly after, she returned with a tray of food.

“I’ll take it,” Hadley said, collecting the tray with a nod. She turned to the woman. “Can you manage to eat on your own?”

“Yes, I can.” The woman gave a small nod and reached for the te and fork. “Alright.”

Hadley remained with the woman as she ate quietly. Her every movement was poised and graceful, far from what anyone would expect of someone in an unstable mental state.

Among the carefully arranged dishes on the tray were the medications prescribed by the doctor. Once the woman finished eating, she grew drowsy.

Hadley helped her onto the bed and tucked her in, smoothing the nket over her with care.

Within a few seconds, she was fast asleep.

Hadley pulled the nket over her, then moved to the window and drew the curtains closed.

Meanwhile, an argument was taking ce downstairs.

    “I’m taking her with me!”

“Impossible.” Ferris let out a soft chuckle, his voice tinged with mockery. “She’s my wife, after all.”

“Your wife?” Eric suppressed his anger, ughing bitterly. “Do you even remember how you treated her?”

Eric hadn’t been there to watch his mother lose herself. But for as long as he could remember, her anguished cries echoing from the small building had burned into his memory.

“Ferris.” Eric took a deep breath, his lips pressed into a thin line. “Yes, she cheated on you… But what you did to her was also unforgivable. It was nothing short of cruel. She was only eighteen when she had me. She was barely more than a child—naive and confused. She had no idea what kind of life she was walking into when she got involved with you. Can you really say you didn’t take advantage of that?”

A sharp ache tugged at Eric’s heart. “You’ve punished her over and over. It’s been almost thirty years. Isn’t that enough? She has suffered more than anyone should. Let her go.”

Ferris gave a low, derisiveugh. “Children always take their mother’s side. It’s funny, considering she didn’t even raise you. And yet here you are, acting like her knight.”

His eyes gleamed with a malicious glint. “You want to take care of her? Fine. Come back to the Scott family. Live under this roof again, and you can be the dutiful son all you want, and get to see her every day.” His tone hardened. “But if you’re nning to walk out of here with her now, forget it.”

With a flick of his hand, he gestured to the two rows of bodyguards dressed in ck, stationed silently nearby. “If you’re thinking of forcing your way out… you might want to check with them first.”

The standoff between the two men stretched in tense silence, until footsteps echoed down the staircase.
