?Chapter 1064:
“So, you can stay here with me all day?” Excitement was evident in his gaze.
Hadley hesitated for a moment before saying, “Yes.”
“That’s fantastic.” Eric beamed, squeezing her hand affectionately.
“Hadley, you’re incredible.”
Hadley offered a soft smile, choosing to remain silent.
Eric, gazing at her with hopeful, bright eyes, reassured her. “Hadley, don’t fret. I’m here for both you and Joy. We’re going to have a wonderful life together.”
He continued, somewhat sheepishly yet with a hint of pride, “The alimony I’ve been sending is from my own earnings. Once I’m released from the hospital, we can start nning our wedding. Imagine—just you, me, and Joy, living as one family.”
He continued to muse aloud, getting carried away with his visions of the future.
“Alright,” Hadley gently interjected, her eyshes fluttering. “You’re barely recovering, and already you’re so full of ns? Why don’t you focus on getting some rest now? Once your IV is done, you’ll likely feel sleepy. The more rest you get, the quicker you’ll heal.”
“Okay,” Eric responded, halting his flow of thoughts and offering a smile of agreement. “Your guidance is what I’ll follow.”
Hadley then assisted him to recline, carefully draping the nket over him. “Now, close your eyes and rest.”
“Don’t leave.”
“I’ll stay.”
With those words, Eric feltforted, his eyes closed, and he soon drifted into a peaceful sleep.
The room became still, and Hadley sat watching him sleep, his breaths even and calm, her mind wandering through a myriad of thoughts.
Hadley left for the film set early the next day after spending the entire previous day at the hospital.
Eric was still sleeping soundly when she departed.
Upon waking and finding Hadley gone, Eric’s gaze fell on Ernest, who was seated beside his bed, meticulously peeling an apple.

“Ernest, what brings you here?”
Ernest stopped peeling, his knife pausing in the air, and fixed Eric with a sharp look. “Is my presence that unwee? Do you really dislike me that much?”
“That’s not what I meant…” Eric replied, his expression troubled as he scanned the room, a look of anxiety in his eyes.
“Don’t bother looking around,” Ernest scolded, shaking his head dismissively. “Hadley’s at the set. And you, you’re hardly yourself.” He motioned toward the nightstand. “There’s a note for you.”
Eric’s eyes moved to the nightstand where he spotted the note. “I’ll be at the set for a night scene. If I finishte, I might not go to the hospital tonight.”
Eric read the message, a sense of disappointment washing over him.
“Your thoughts are always on Hadley. But what about you?” Ernest continued to peel his apple, speaking as ifmenting on the weather.
“Me?” Eric echoed, visibly confused. “What about me?”
“Surely you’ve rested enough by now?” Ernest indicated toward Eric’s head, pointing out his unkempt hair. “It’s time for you to leave here and get back to your life. You can’t stay stuck in the middle forever.”
Eric looked at Ernest, baffled by his words. “Ernest, what are you trying to say?”
