Chapter 1028

    ?Chapter 1028:

She had first had them wheel her into a chair, and then dismissed them. Her legs were useless, but her arms worked fine. So she’d rolled herself to the window and hauled herself up, bit by bit.

“Haha…” Hadley smirked at the exnation. “Guess she’s dead-set on ending it all.”

“Hadley…” Eric abruptly turned to her, his breathing ragged and strained.

“Why are you staring at me?” Hadley’s tone was cold. “Eyes on her—she’s the one trying to off herself.”

Linda, hearing the stir, twisted around from her perch. Upon spotting Eric, tears gushed down her cheeks. “Why did youe back? Didn’t you stop caring about me anymore?”

“Linda…” Eric stiffened, inching closer with care. “You’ve got it wrong. I never said that… Come down, and let’s talk this out, okay?”

“No! Stay back!” She screamed, her voice wild and unhinged as she jabbed a finger at Hadley beside him. “You’re a liar! You’ve been lying this whole time!”

Linda shook her head frantically, sobbing. “You ran to her! She’s all you care about… Ernest has Elissa now—he’s done with me. And you, for Hadley, you’ve tossed me aside too…” Her re locked onto Eric, her voice rising with each word.

“Eric, I ended up like this because of you, and now even you’ve cast me off… I’m just dead weight to everyone… I’m done living!”

“Then do it already!” Hadley’s crisp voice rang out, stepping forward to face Linda head-on.

Linda blinked, stunned, as if she had misheard. “What did you say?”

“Humph.” Hadley’sugh was biting. “You don’t want to live? Then jump! Get it over with!”

“Hadley!” Eric lunged, grabbing her arm, his face stern. “Stop…”

“Let go!” She didn’t spare him a nce, wrenching free and fixing her gaze on Linda, a strange fire glinting in her eyes.

Something raw churned inside her, spilling into her words. “You’re spot on—he’s through with you! He ditched you toe to me! Hurts, doesn’t it? So go on, finish it!”

She thrust a hand toward the window. “Jump already! Once you’re gone, we’ll all have some peace!”

“You…” Linda faltered, her body quaking harder by the second.

“Jump!” Hadley’s shout cracked like a whip. “What are you waiting for?”

“Ah!” Linda wailed, clutching her head, thrashing in torment. “Fine, I’ll give you what you want…”

She lifted her gaze to Eric, a broken smile flickering. “Eric, farewell…”

Linda’s body tipped, pitching straight out the window.

    “No! Linda!”

A blur of wind streaked past Hadley, and by the time she snapped to, Eric was at the sill, half his body dangling out. Linda hung from the outer wall, her hands barely caught in Eric’s grip.

“Linda!” Eric’s face twisted in agony, veins pulsing at his temples. “Hang on… Don’t let go!”

“What are you all gawking at? Get help!” Linda’s voice was strained, desperate.

The medical staff and caregiver scrambled into action, the room erupting in chaos.

    “Mr. Flynn, hold on!”
