Chapter 955

    ?Chapter 955:

Ernest’s chest tightened. He had to get her out—fast.

He raised his hand and reached toward her. “Elissa…”

“Ah!!!” Elissa let out panicked screams. “Don’te near me! Stay away!”

As she screamed, she thrashed her arms in the air.

    “Go! Go away!”

Earlier, Elissa had scared off others who hade to get her.

Ernest’s brow furrowed. Instead of stepping back, he reached in and gripped her shoulders. “Elissa, calm down!”

    “Ahhh…”

The second he touched her, Elissa’s body stiffened, and her eyes widened with terror.

    “Elissa!”

Ernest couldn’t take it anymore. He pulled her into his arms and held her tightly. Then, he bent down and whispered in her ear, “It’s me. Dn. Do you recognize my voice?”

Elissa leaned weakly against his shoulder and mumbled, “Dn?”

“Yes, it’s me. Dn.” Ernest spoke in a low and gentle voice. “Do you recognize my voice?”

Elissa nodded slowly, still in a daze. She knew that voice. It was…

    Dn’s.

Atst, she felt safe. This man had saved her life before. He was a good man and wouldn’t hurt her.

“I won’t hurt you,” Ernest said reassuringly. “Come on. Let’s get you out. You need a bath and clean clothes. Then, a doctor will check where you’re hurt.”

Upon hearing his soothing voice, Elissa’s tense body began to rx. She was still scared, but she eventually nodded.

“It’s a bit high.” Ernest nced around, trying to figure out how she had gotten in there in the first ce.

After a moment, he said softly, “I’m sorry, but I’ll have to lift you out. Can you stand up for me?”

He ced his hands on her waist and, with care, lifted her as if she were a child.

“Ah.” Elissa instinctively gasped and wrapped her arms around his neck. Even when he put her down and her feet touched the tops of his shoes, she didn’t let go.

“It’s okay now.” Ernest held her steady, one hand supporting her back, the other keeping her close. “You’re safe now. No one’s going to hurt you.”

Elissa nodded and responded in a shaky voice, “Thank you…”

Ernest managed a bitter smile. How could he ept her thanks? She didn’t know it yet, but he was the reason for all her suffering.

At this moment, Ernest gathered her in his arms. “Let’s go.”

As he turned around, his eyes caught three figures standing a short distance away, shoulder to shoulder. Each of them wore a different expression.

Among them, Hadley looked the most stunned. Although she had had her suspicions earlier, she hadn’t expected the truth to hit her like this.

Upon watching Ernest cradle Elissa so carefully, numerous questions swirled through her mind. How had they developed such a rtionship? Where had it begun? What had sparked it? And just how far had it gone?

Eric frowned, his eyes shadowed with worry. Every so often, he nced sideways at Linda.

Linda, on the other hand, stood with her arms crossed and a cold, mocking smile. It was as if she were watching a drama she wasn’t involved in.
