?Chapter 933:
“You should get some rest now, Grandma,” Ernest said gently as he stood to leave.
“Wait!” N quickly stopped him. “There’s one other thing. I’m thinking about giving Hadley the vi on Jewel Avenue. Do you mind?”
“Why would I mind?” Ernest replied, looking mildly surprised. “It’s your house. You’re free to give it to anyone you choose.”
“That’s reassuring,” N said with relief, quietly sping her hands in prayer. “As long as Eric recovers, I’d happily do anything for Hadley. A vi? It’s the least I can offer. May God watch over Eric. Please don’t let him suffer what you did years ago…”
“He won’t, Grandma,” Ernest reassured her calmly.
N released a heavy breath.
They exchanged uneasy looks.
Outside in the hallway, Linda stood holding N’s medicine, debating whether she should stay or go, her expression conflicted. She hadn’t intended to overhear. Bringing the medicine at this hour was routine, and the door had been slightly ajar. So, she’d caught enough of the conversation.
Linda quietly scoffed. Eric wasn’t even awake yet, and N had already decided to hand Hadley the Jewel Avenue vi. N’s generosity truly knew no bounds.
Stifling her annoyance, Linda tapped lightly on the door and put on her most pleasant face. “N, it’s time for your medicine.”
The early morning sky glowed softly as daylight approached. Hadley stirred awake on the sofa, stretching before heading to the bathroom to freshen up.
Just as she emerged, a nurse entered to check Eric’s condition, and a caregiver began preparations to bathe and change him. The caregiver was male and strong enough tofortably reposition Eric as needed.
Hadley assisted him quietly, only speaking up when it came to Eric’s shave. “I’ll take care of this part.”

“Alright,” the caregiver said, handing her the razor. “His face has already been warmed with a towel, so you can just apply the shaving cream.”
“Got it.” Hadley gently spread the shaving cream onto Eric’s face, carefully leaning close as she began to shave him. Once finished, she cleaned his face with a warm towel, making sure to be thorough.
“Finished,” she said softly, handing the shaving supplies back to the caregiver and stepping away to wash her hands. Just as she turned, Hadley felt a gentle tug on her clothes.
Surprised, she nced down and immediately heard the nurse’s excited voice. “Mr. Flynn just moved!” It was true. Hadley saw clearly that Eric’s fingers had curled tightly around the hem of her clothes.
Could he be awake?
Hadley quickly turned her gaze toward Eric, but he remained lying still, eyes tightly shut. Her heartbeat quickened instantly. “Nurse, please go tell the doctor!”
“I’ll get him right away!”
“Did you say Eric is awake?” N’s hopeful voice echoed outside as she hurried into the room, Ernest and Linda close behind her. “Look who’s here, Eric! It’s Grandma!”
Hurrying to the bedside, N expected to find her grandson awake, but he remained engulfed in deep slumber.
