Chapter 901

    ?Chapter 901:

“Over there!” Joy chirped, waving her arms to guide him. “The table’s that way. Sit by me, okay?”

“Okay,” Eric replied, carrying her to the dining area. Joy had outgrown her baby chair, so she was now using a small step stool instead.

She beamed at him, and then at Hadley across the table. “Perfect! You’re both here with me!”

Melba set the breakfast spread out. “With them around, behave and eat properly.”

    “I will!” Joy promised.

“Let’s dig in,” Eric said, cing a piece of freshly baked bread on Joy’s te, and then one on Hadley’s.

“You too, Mr. Flynn!” Joy giggled, plopping a piece onto Eric’s te in return.

“Ha, fair enough!” Ericughed, the sound filling the room.

Mid-meal, a sharp knock interrupted them.

Melba went to investigate and found theplex’s security guard outside.

“Sorry to bother you. Does the Bentley out front belong to anyone here?” he asked. “I seem to remember seeing you with someone driving that car.”

“Yes, is there a problem?” Melba asked, confused.

“The thing is,” the security guard exined, “we spotted someone lurking around the Bentley for a while. We brought him in and wanted to ask if you recognized him. If not, should we call the police?”

Melba hesitated, unsure what to do. She turned just as Eric stood and walked over.

“Mr. Flynn, what’s your call?” Melba asked.

“I’ll take care of it,” he said calmly.

    “Understood.”

Eric turned to the two guards. “Do you have a photo of the person?”

“We do.” One of them pulled out his phone, tapped into his gallery, and handed the screen to Eric. “Here, take a look. Do you know this guy?”

Eric studied the unfamiliar face, then sent the image to himself. Afterward, he handed the guard’s phone back.

“Thanks for your effort, but I don’t know him. There’s no need to hold him.”

“You want us to let him go?”

    “Yes.” Eric nodded.

Theck of urgency from the guards told him the car hadn’t been tampered with. If it had, they wouldn’t havee asking first—they’d have already contacted the police.

“Well… alright then,” the guard replied, still a bit confused. “Sorry to trouble you.”

“Appreciate it. Have a good day.”

As the guards exited, Eric returned to the table.

The apartment was small enough that Hadley had overheard everything. She frowned slightly.

“You’re just letting him go? Shouldn’t we call the police?”

Not long ago, someone had juste after him with a machete.

“Calling the cops won’t help,” Eric said, a trace of amusement in his voice. “He didn’t actually do anything. Even if they took him in, he would walk free.”

So, there was nothing to gain from it.
