Chapter 848

    ?Chapter 848:

But this time, Ernest said nothing. Not even his usual curt “Okay.”

Elissa pressed her lips together and stayed quiet. She couldn’t see him, but she could feel something was off. He was upset. She didn’t know why, but the weight of it filled the silence.

Had she troubled him too much?

She couldn’t deny it. She had indeed brought him more than a few problems.

Still, most of it hadn’t been her doing. Like today, she hadn’t asked for his help. She didn’t even know why he had shown up.

Ernest was indeed upset and he knew exactly why he was mad. And it wasn’t at her. He was mad at himself.

Since thest time Robin had taken Elissa away, Ernest had been thinking it over. Redmarsh was no longer a safe ce for her. He’d been trying to find a way to move her somewhere else without looking suspicious.

Today, he hade to take her with him.

Unfortunately, he had arrived a little toote.

Elissa had almost gotten hurt again.

Ernest said nothing. The quiet stretched between them, heavy and tense.

Elissa sat with her hands sped tightly in herp. It felt like sitting on pins and needles. Finally, she found the courage to speak. “Mr. Flynn, may I ask… where are we going?”

Ernest didn’t answer. Instead, he looked toward Quentin in the front seat.

Quentin caught the signal and turned slightly. “Miss Hond, you must understand—Redmarsh isn’t safe for you anymore. Robin coulde after you again at any time.”

On their way to Redmarsh, Ernest had actually been deep in thought, trying to figure out how to convince Elissa. But Robin’s appearance had unexpectedly taken care of that for him.

Elissa sat quietly, her eyes wide open. She knew Quentin was right. But where could she go?

Just then, Quentin spoke again. “Miss Hond, the Flynn family owns a sanatorium. You can stay there for now. Living alone isn’t easy, especially with your condition. The facility has doctors, nurses, and caregivers. You’ll be well looked after.”

    It sounded ideal and peaceful.

However, something held her back. A ce like that must be expensive. Elissa hesitated. “I don’t have much in savings…”

She had been managing her day-to-day expenses just fine, but a private sanatorium was a luxury far beyond her reach, just as it would be for most.

“Don’t worry about that.” Quentin cast a quick nce at Ernest. “Mr. Flynn would like you to stay there. You won’t need to worry about the cost for now. The charges will just be kept on record. No immediate payment is required.”

They had chosen their words carefully. Saying it was free outright might have made Elissa turn it down directly.

Of course, in the end, she wouldn’t be charged at all.

Elissa frowned, and her fingers tightened around each other. Ernest was too kind, and she felt she didn’t deserve that. Sensing her reluctance, Quentin added, “Miss Hond, try not to overthink it. Do you have a better ce in mind?”
