Chapter 807

    ?Chapter 807:

She had blurted out that he wasn’t the father—practically handed him the golden ticket to doubt her—and he didn’t even flinch?

She had acted on impulse, seizing what felt like her only shot to break free.

    But he didn’t buy it?

Even Hadley herself thought Linda’s little whispers made sense!

After his cold shoulder yesterday and noting home all night, Hadley had figured he’d swallowed the bait.

Now it seemed he was just ticked off at her big mouth.

He didn’t so much as raise a doubt about her.

He put his faith in her, no questions asked?

What was driving that? Where the heck did thate from? Shouldn’t he have picked Linda over her, like he did four years ago?

    Oh, the irony.

If he had had this kind of faith in her back then, they wouldn’t be in this mess now.

Hadley shuffled to the kitchen, warmed up some milk, and was sipping it when she heard the sound of footsteps—Eric, heading downstairs. She plunked the cup down and dashed over. “Eric, hold up!”

But she was a beat too slow—Eric had already slipped out of the foyer and shut the door behind him.

Hadley gave a futile little tug at her lips. Had her voice not reached him? Or had he caught her words but just didn’t feel like sticking around?

    M?????? ???????????????? ???????? g????????ν??????.??????

How long was he nning to keep her cooped up here? What would it take to slip away with the baby—and Joy—in one piece?

She trudged back, finished her milk, and climbed the stairs.

Last night had been a sleepless disaster, her mind racing with worries.

Now, stuck between a rock and a hard ce, Hadley flopped onto the bed, figuring she would just roll with the punches. With her mind made up, sleep soon hit her like a freight train.

Lost in a foggy haze, she had no clue how long she’d been out until a knock at the door snapped her back.

Fiona’s voice floated through the door. “Miss Pearson, are you up? Lunch is ready.”

Hadley groaned, her eyes heavy as lead. “Fiona, I’m wiped. I’ll pass on lunch.” She rolled over, diving back into dreand.

Fiona hesitated but then shuffled downstairs.

After mulling it over, she dialed Eric. “Mr. Flynn, I tried calling Miss Pearson, but she’s beat and says she’s skipping lunch.”

“Got it,” Eric replied curtly before hanging up. Secondster, he was ringing Hadley’s phone.

    Skipping lunch?

Did she forget she was eating for two now? She was always yapping about skipping meals to stay slim.

Her body was already frail, passing out twice since the pregnancy started, and now she was pulling this stunt?

“Hello?” Hadley’s groggy voice croaked through the line.
