Chapter 740:
Eric’s face lit up with delight when he heard Hadley’s request, his voice softening. “Skipping the gathering for us to be together, you mean?”
“Yes.” Hadley’s reply came without a second thought. “Is it possible for you not to go?”
Eric pondered for a moment, then suggested a solution. “I’ll send Sebastian to bring you here after you finish work. If you’re with me, I’ll have a good reason to bow out early. Does that work?”
“Okay, I’ll wait for you,” Hadley responded as she walked out with the strawberries. “Then it’s decided.”
After ending the call, a joyful Eric yfully tossed his phone into the air and caught it. His mood was visibly uplifted by Hadley’s disy of affection.
Marshall entered the office, noticed Eric’s cheerful demeanor, and couldn’t help butment wryly, “Tone down that grin, will you?” Was Eric trying to rub in his happiness, given Marshall’s single status?
Eric burst intoughter. “My apologies, really!”
That evening, as Hadley’s work wrapped up, Sebastian was already waiting outside the dance studio to fetch her as nned. Back at the office, Eric, Marshall, and some business partners were deep in discussion in a small meeting room when Sebastian quietly informed him, “Miss Pearson is now waiting in the lounge.”
“Thank you, Sebastian,” Eric acknowledged, then quickly texted Hadley.
“I’ve set up everything for you—food’s in the fridge, a tablet on the table for passing time, and the TV’s also ready. Make yourself at home for a bit. I’ll join you as soon as I can.”

Hadley sent a swift response. “Got it.”
With that single reply and a blushing emoji, Hadley conveyed her mood. Seeing this, Eric grinned, happiness evident in his eyes.
Once the meeting wrapped up, Marshall threw out an invitation. “How about dinner on me at Poseidon’s Realm tonight?”
“Appreciate it, Mr. Myers.”
“Mr. Myers, that’s very generous of you!”
Eric simply declined. “I’ll have to pass this time.”
Marshall looked puzzled. “Didn’t we n this?”
“Apologies.” Already distracted, Eric exined, “My girlfriend’s waiting in the lounge. She’s quite clingy, worried I’ll stay out toote. How can I say no to her?”
Marshall let out an exaggerated sigh, shaking his head. “I can’t even look at you right now. Seriously, letting a girl have youpletely under her thumb?”
“You single people just don’t get it,” Eric replied smoothly. “Once you have a girlfriend, you’ll understand.”
Marshall scoffed, rolling his eyes. “Yeah, sure. I’ll let you know when that dayes. Alright, enough. Go on, get out of here. I’m not seeing you off.”
The second the door clicked shut behind them, Eric turned on his heel and headed straight back to his office.
In the private lounge inside his office, Hadley was already asleep. Curled up beneath the warm nkets, her breathing was slow and steady, her cheeks tinged with a soft, sleepy flush.
Then—unable to resist—he stepped closer and gently brushed his fingers across her cheek. Once. Then again. Hadley stirred, her lips parting in a sleepy mumble. “Are you done?”
