Chapter 567

    ?Chapter 567:

This brought a more serious look to her face as she straightened up, ready to exin further.

“Truly, thank you for everything you’ve done.”

Hadley acknowledged the significant role Eric had yed in Joy’s chance for a better life. Her gratitude was genuine.

Eric couldn’t believe his ears. He believed it all spiraled out of this morning’s unfortunate events.

Eric managed augh, but it wasced with sarcasm. “You want to end things over a single disagreement? What rtionship doesn’t have its ups and downs? Hadley, this is childish. You’re acting so impulsively.”

“It’s irrelevant.” Hadley was dismissive, unwavering in her decision. “You may see me as impetuous and immature, but I’ve made my decision. We’re breaking up.”

“Come on, Hadley.” Eric’s frustration was evident; his eyes darkened with desperation. “Be rational. Weren’t you also at fault this morning?”

“I acknowledge that.” Hadley conceded without hesitation. “I shouldn’t have caused a scene with Linda’s dishes. That one’s on me.”

Eric sensed herck of sincerity. “You admit your mistakes readily, but do you genuinely believe you were at fault? Empty apologies aren’t necessary.”

Hadley let out a softugh. “I do acknowledge my error, truly.”

    “Then if that’s true…”

Interrupting him, Hadley’s smile was cold. “However, acknowledging my mistake doesn’t change that you’ve upset me. I no longer wish to continue this rtionship. It’s over.”

Finishing her milk, she set down the cup neatly. No sense in leaving anything behind. She then stood up.

    “Stay seated!”

Eric’s hand shot out, grabbing her wrist and pulling her back down. “Really?”

Surprised and irritated, Hadley stared back at him sharply. “Mr. Flynn, this is unnecessary. We agreed that we could end things if it stopped.”

“Working for either of us. That was your promise.”

She arched an eyebrow. “Aren’t you a man of your word? Not keeping your promise now?”

At a loss for words, Eric opened his mouth but remained silent.

“Hadley!” Elissa entered the café at that moment, pushing the door wide open and signaling to Hadley. “All set? I’vee to pick you up.”

    “Sure, just a second.”

Hadley shot Eric a look as she stood up, freeing herself from his grip. “Mr. Flynn, I’m deeply disappointed. You chose to protect another woman rather than support me, your own girlfriend. Remember how you once described me? ‘Arrogant, overbearing, and willful.’ Well, I can’t tolerate being second to anyone, and frankly, you’ve be a nuisance. Goodbye!”

She made her way over to Elissa. “Did I keep you waiting?”

“Just got here,” Elissa responded, looping her arm through Hadley’s. “It’s freezing outside. Let’s get moving.”

    “Absolutely.”

Back at the table, Eric sat frozen, watching Hadley leave.

What a miscalction on his part!

He had thought they could smooth things over.

Instead, Hadley dropped a bombshell, decisively cutting him off. This was his first real attempt at romance, and it had ended in a public rejection—unexpected and abrupt.
