Chapter 171

    ?Chapter 171:

“I won’t,” Hadley replied quietly, shaking her head.

“Not many people have treated me well. After my grandma passed, it was just N and Ernest, back then. This guy… he’s the third. I’m grateful for him.”

    Eric’s breath hitched.

He wanted to say something. What about him? Hadn’t he been good to her?

But the words caught in his throat. He hadn’t been good to her. In fact, he’d been terrible.

But could he really be med? If she hadn’t pushed so hard to marry him… Maybe he could have treated her better.

    Frustration bubbled up inside Eric.

“Who the hell is this guy?” he thought. He needed to find out.

That evening, Hadley arrived at Gnt as usual.

Lennon slipped into the dressing room with some news. “Hadley, I spoke with Duran. Everything’s set up for you. Just be prepared.”

“Alright.” Hadley took a steadying breath and nodded. “Thanks.”

“No need to thank me,” Lennon replied, his voice carrying a mix of excitement and anxiety. “Down the road, I might need you to put in a good word for me with Duran.”

“You’re too kind, Mr. Lewis,” Hadley said with a smile.

Inside, she was already bracing herself. Some things just had to be done.

The following day, Hadley made time to visit the hospital.

She checked in, waited her turn, and was finally called in to see the doctor.

The doctor paused, tapping the paper as he met Hadley’s gaze. “This medication isn’t something you should take lightly. Follow the prescribed dosage exactly.”

    “Got it,” Hadley said.

“If you notice any adverse effects, stop right away ande back to see me.”

    “Understood.”

“And,” the doctor added, handing her the prescription, “make sure to return for regr follow-ups. I’m responsible for your care.”

“Alright, thank you. I’m sorry for the trouble.”

Hadley took the prescription, paid at the counter, and picked up her medication from the pharmacy.

She had only managed to see this doctor because of Colleen. The truth was, considering her condition, the doctor wasn’t supposed to prescribe these kinds of meds.

But Hadley needed them desperately, so she had relied on Colleen to make it happen.

She was fully aware that the medication could cause side effects, but she didn’t have much of a choice.

Her condition, the one that made her unable to tolerate being touched, would make it impossible for her to throw herself into Duran’s arms.

And for that reason, she needed such medical help.

Hadley held the medicine bottle tightly, as if it were herst lifeline.

With this, there was nothing to be afraid of.

    That evening, at Gnt.

After the performance, Lennon led her toward a private room in the back. “He’s waiting inside.”

    “Alright.”
