The Silent 719

Sophie snapped, “Are you telling me Eliza actually went to the Padi family? But didn''t they already fall from grace? How could she possibly get in

    there?"

She frowned and continued questioning the maid under her control.

The maid shivered with fear. Though her mind was racing with questions, she dared not refuse to answer Sophie. "Ve-yes, Lady Sophie... Her Grace,

    she..."

Sophie was angrier. "Don''t you dare call that filthy girl ''Her Grace''!"

Then, her eyes shed with venom. "She is nothing but a bug to be crushed under my feet! How dare anyone call her that? What a joke!"

The maid was drenched in cold sweat, her whole body trembling violently as a de was pressed to her throat, She knew that any disobedience would mean having her throat slit instantly.

The maid stammered nervously, "We-well... Lady Padi...”

Now that Eliza was head of the Padi family and the maid hesitated to call her "Her Grace," she decided that "Lady Padi" would suffice.

But Sophie''s expression grew even more terrifying as she fixed the maid with a deadly re. Her voice dripped with menace as she hissed. "Either call her ''that bitch,'' or I will have you executed right now, you little wretch!"

"Mercy, Lady Sophie!" the maid cried out, her voice trembling with fear.

The maid was so terrified that she was on the verge of tears.

    "Keep talking," Sophiemanded icily.

"Yes," the maid sobbed. "That... that bitch, after bing the Holy Lady, she prayed for disaster relief across three provinces and earned His Majesty''s favor. She was granted one wish, used it to change her surname, and somehow ended up as the head of their family."

The more Sophie listened, the more unsettled she grew, something was clearly amiss.

Sophie thought, ''Everything changed since thating-of-age partyst year. ''No way... could that little bitch have been given second chance too?

''Wait... judging by the timing, she actually came back even earlier than I did?!''

Sophie paused for a moment. ''Of course, Eliza did die before me in our previous lives,'' she realized.

If it hadn''t been for Isabelle''s betrayal, which got Sophie killed by the Prince Regent, she would still be the exalted Empress, reigning supreme above all others.

That was not all. Sophie could have been so much more than just the Empress. ording to her father''s n, the Stonor family was so close, almost seeded in the rebellion. Just one step away from overthrowing the dynasty.

All of this-every bit of it-was because of Isabelle and the Prince Regent.

Sophie took a deep breath, forced down her irritation, and snapped, "Isn''t it about time for His Majesty to choose new consorts? Has the date for the selection been set yet?"

The maid looked utterly bewildered and stammered, "Consort selection? But didn''t His Majesty just recently get married?"

"Married?!" Sophie shrieked, her voice rising in disbelief.

The maid trembled even more violently, blood gushing from her neck, yet she didn''t dare lift a hand to staunch the flow. Frozen in ce, tariner bewildered, she couldn''t understand why Sophie was reacting so furiously to the fact.

"His Majesty got married?!" Sophie shrieked. "Who stole my rightful ce as Empress? Was it Eliza?!"

The maid stammered, "No-No! It''s Miss Diana Baker, she''s now Her Majesty, the Empress, and Miss Audrey Henderson, who''s be Her Highness, the Imperial Consort."

Sophie''s face twisted in rage. "That Baker wench, Diana? How is she still breathing?!"

She cursed under her breath, "Useless idiots! How could I, in this lifetime, fail to take out even a single eyesore?"

Sophie had killed Diana long ago in her previous life. And yet, not only was Diana still alive, she had stolen the very title Sophie believed was rightfully hers: Empress.
