The sorcerer Rayden had proven unreliable. It was time to call for another one. After all, if there was one thing the Malone family had in abundance, it was
sorcerers. But just taking care of that young sorcerer wouldn''t be enough to deal with Nn.
He needed leverage. He needed to catch the Holy Lady of Walden.
Only by capturing her could he force Nn to back down.
Jefferson plotted his next move, unaware the person he wanted dead and
nned to capture were, in fact, the same.
Jefferson thought using Eliza as a hostage might work, but Nn had outmaneuvered him.
"Bring him in," Nn ordered, his tone calm butmanding.
He barely nced at the emptied secret chamber, showing no interest in the so- called "evidence" that had been removed.
After a quick look around, Nn gestured for Jefferson to be brought in. Then, as if reconsidering, he waved his hand and said, "Forget it. Take him to the next room. Let him have some time to think."
''Time to think? What is that supposed to mean?'' At that moment, Jefferson had no idea what Nn was nning.
Suddenly, his mouth was gagged, and from the next room, he heard a familiar voice.
"Let go of me!
"How dare you treat me like this! Do you even know who I am? You''ll regret this!"
''These brutes!'' Louisa fumed internally. ''How dare theyy hands on someone as beautiful and noble as me!
''ck g soldiers? Prince Regent? Damn it! They''re nothing but a bunch of uncivilized thugs who don''t know the first thing about treating ady!''
"Just wait! I''ll make sure every single one of you pays for this..."
Before she could finish her rant, a sharp scream tore through the air.
Louisa was tied to a rack, her struggles futile. A ck g soldier grabbed a whip studded with iron thorns from the stone tform andshed it across her back without hesitation.
The whip tore through her clothes, exposing her shoulder, which was mangled and bleeding. Blood trickled down, staining the cold stone floor around her.
Louisa screamed in pain, "Ah! It hurts so much! Father, where are you? Please, save me!"
''My daughter!'' Jefferson''s eyes snapped open, zing with fury as he red at Nn. ''You bastard!
''How dare you use my daughter to threaten me!
''Let my daughter go!''
Jefferson''s mouth was tightly gagged, rendering him unable to speak. He struggled in his restraints, desperate to catch Nn''s attention. Yet, Nn sat there with his eyes closed, calm as if meditating, ignoring him while the sounds of beating from the interrogation room continued unabated.
Calling it "interrogation" wouldn''t be quite right.
After all, no questions were being asked-just the relentless thuds of fistsnding.
"Ahh! Stop! Stop! What do you want from me?"
Next door, Louisa was sobbing uncontrobly. As the governor''s pampered daughter, she''d been treated like a precious gem her entire life, adored and protected by the entire Malone family.
She''d never been hit or even scolded. If she lost so much as a strand of hair, the servants responsible would be punished without mercy.
She had always been the one dishing out punishment. Who could have imagined she''d end up like this?
"You... You monsters!" she whimpered, her voice trembling with pain and rage. "My father won''t let you get away with this!"
The ck g soldiers didn''t stop until Louisa was a bloody, broken mess, barely conscious.
At that moment, a slender figure stepped forwar Sessfully unlocked! soldiers. "Lady Louisa, before you start making threats, why not take a good look around. Curry, to ce for finiliar to you."
