558.Chapter 558
Just as the poisonous insects were about to enter Centrina City, the city gates were finally opened.
"Prince Regent."
A middle-aged man, dressed in official robes, hurriedly led a group of officials out from the gates.
Upon seeing Nn, he immediately dropped to his knees, crying out, "Prince Regent, you''ve finally arrived! You can''t imagine how long I, along with all the officials and citizens of Woteria, have been waiting for the court''s aid. Atst, we''ve been blessed with your arrival."
His words made it sound as if the court had been dragging its feet on the relief effort.
Nn raised an eyebrow.
From his position on horseback, he looked down at the kneeling officials, scanning the crowd of eyes watching them from within Centrina City.
He coldly replied, "It seems I''ve caused you trouble, then. After the King received news of Woteria''s disaster, he immediately began preparing the relief. I''ve led the ck g Army with supplies, traveling day and night, only to keep you waiting." "Jefferson, you''ve truly worked hard," Nn''s words instantly made Jefferson''s back break into a cold sweat. Jefferson quickly said, "No, no, Your Highness, it is you who have worked hard. Please, enter the city and rest."
As he tried to rise, a de, still sheathed, was pressed against his shoulder.
"In a hurry? I still have questions," Nn''s voice was calm but firm.
Though the pressure seemed light, Jefferson felt as if his shoulder might be broken.
He broke into a cold sweat, saying, "The snow outside is freezing, and the soldiers must be suffering as well. It would be better if Your Highness enters the city to rest first. Then, we can talk more inside."
Just moments ago, he had closed the gates to block their entry, yet now, he was eager to invite them in.
''Something''s off here, thought Eliza, quietly watching Jefferson and the others, as the poisonous insects she had sent into Centrina City started reporting back.
As the insects ryed the situation inside, Eliza raised an eyebrow under her straw hat.
Given Jefferson''s odd behavior, she initially suspected he had set a trap with assassins. But the situation inside Centrina City surprised her.
There was no ambush waiting for Nn and the others. Instead, they were met by
a crowd of citizens-though not the weing kind.
Eliza tightened her grip on the reins and moved her horse closer to Nn, signaling him discreetly.
Nn understood immediately.
He gave a coldugh and said, "Entering the city is unnecessary. My soldiers have faced battles, wars, and death on the battlefield. How could they fear a little snow?"
As he spoke, his voice rose in volume.
His words echoed across the gates, carried to the citizens within Centrina City.
"By the order of His Majesty, I, Prince Regent, havee to Woteria with the ck g Army to bring relief. I came to save the citizens, yet the governor prepared such a grand reception for me-first refusing to allow my entry, then pretending to wee me. It''s nauseating."
Jefferson''s face immediately turned pale.
He forced a smile, attempting to defend himself, but Nn cut him off.
"Enough. I don''t care what you think. Whether you wee me or not, I don''t have the time for your games. Tomorrow morning, we will distribute bread and medicine outside the city. Anyone who understands what''s happening, or anyone who wants to live, is wee toe and take it."
Nn turned to the ck g Army andmanded, "Set up camp here. Do not enter the city and disturb the citizens." "Yes, sir!" the ck g Army responded in unison, their voices booming and their presencemanding, shaking both the people outside and those inside the city.
Jefferson''s eyes narrowed with thought. ''Who
Sessfully unlocked!
Nn is just a mailtry leader?''
Just from the earlier refusal by the city guards, Nn had sensed something off.
Now, it was clear he had detected something strange in the city, ignoring Jefferson''s invitation and setting up camp outside.

Even more telling was his decision to announce the distribution of food and supplies.
This could shake the confidence of the citizens inside.
Jefferson immediately tried to cate, saying, "Your Highness, what are you saying? I hold nothing but admiration for you. There''s no question of unweing.
"The city guards simply acted without understanding. Please, do not hold this against them. If you insist, then... then punish me. It was my mistake, and it caused you and your soldiers to wait outside the city. Now that you are here in Centrína City, pleasee in and rest. Tomorrow, I will arrange the relief efforts for the citizens."
The speech was so polished that even Eliza felt herself nodding off.
Nn, however, had little patience for such theatrics.
Without a word, he grabbed Jefferson by the cor, yanking him close, and coldly threatened, "If you don''t leave now, I''ll raze your Malone family to the ground."
