522 Chapter 522
522.Chapter 522
After weaving through several streets, Vaughn was fed into an alley by the two
men.
Eliza, who had followed discreetly through the crowd, stopped at the entrance of the alley. She squinted slightly eyeing the narrow and dimly lit path ahead.
It was eerily reminiscent of a trap designed for "inviting someone into a pit."
Eliza merely raised an eyebrow, unfazed, before stepping into the alley
Her footsteps echoed through the quiet alley, deliberate and steady
Pairs of eyes hidden in the shadows began to focus on her.
As her figure blended into the darkness of the alley, a dangerous aura began to gather around her
But just as the tension built, Eliza ced her right hand on her skirt. One by one, her poison insects swarmed from the space she had created, darting out along the hem of her gown, forming countless tiny ck dots. At hermand, they quickly darted into the deeper shadows of the alley.
Soon, the insects found their targets.
"What is that?"
"Insects. Be careful."
"Where did all these insectse from? How could there be so many?"
"Run! These bugs are poisonous!"
Unfortunately, by the time the men reacted, they were already surrounded.
No matter how they struggled, they were overwhelmed by the relentless wave of insects, each one biting and tearing until they copsed, falling victim to the poisonous swarm.
"They really had quite the setup waiting for me," Eliza muttered, ncing at the bodies that had revealed themselves in the corners after death. She scoffed lightly.
She then kicked the body lying in front of her aside and continued forward.
The poison insects split into two groups-one moved ahead to scout, while the other surrounded her, using the buildings in the alley for cover. They moved silently, alert to any threat that might emerge around their mistress.
After passing through the alley, Eliza soon found herself at the back gate of a mansion.
She scanned the surroundings; clearly, there was no other way in.
She waited quietly for a moment. When she heard some movement inside, she lifted her hand and pushed the door open.
"Who is that?"
From the shadows, a masked assassin watched the young woman entering through the back gate. Seeing her so rxed, as if strolling through her own home, the assassin frowned and asked.
Another assassin nced at her, shook his head, and said, "Never seen her before. She''s pretty, but she doesn''t seem to match the description of Diana that we were told to kill."
"What do you mean ''doesn''t match''? This is definitely someone else."
The first assassin shot him a look, coldly replying, "It doesn''t matter who she is. What''s strange is that she just walked right in. Where are the guards outside?"
The second assassin''s eyes widened as realization hit. "Could something have gone wrong?"
They exchanged a nce, and without a word, made their decision.
"Take her down."
"Understood."
The two assassins immediately sprang into action, but before they could close the distance, a cold sh flickered between their necks.
The next moment, two blood trails shot out from the air, and their bodies dropped into the water basin below.
The "ssh" of water did not even cause Eliza to turn back.
She had already known the assassins'' positions through the insects.
But before she could act, Tina had already dealt with them first.
Eliza continued forward, following the path the insects had led her. Soon, she
arrived at a spacious courtyard. Looking ahead, she saw several people kneeling
in the courtyard, some middle-aged, others elderly.
522 Chapter 522
Eliza, even from a distance, could already smell the medicinal scent from their bodies.
It seemed these were all doctors from Vollult Town.
Eliza didn''t have to guess, she knew the ones who had taken Hubert were trying
to prevent him from finding a doctor to treat his wounds, so they had gathered all the local doctors here.
She wondered if any of these doctors knew where Hubert was.
"Lady, since you''vee, why note inside and rest?"
At that moment, a young man''s voice called out from the courtyard.
Eliza lifted her gaze and saw two figures appear in the corridor across from her.
The man leading the group was tall and graceful, dressed in a green robe and a snow-white cloak. His long, ck hair cascaded on his shoulders, exuding a refined elegance.
A step behind him, a guard dressed inbat gear, with a sword in hand, followed closely. He radiated an air of danger The guard nced around, his eyes sharp, seemingly alert to something.
But when he turned back to look at Eliza, the wariness in his gaze
intensified.
It was as if Eliza herself was the most dangerous presence in the courtyard.
Seeing that Eliza didn''t respond, Korneel Boerkamp remained unfazed. He walked into the courtyard and sat down, signaling for someone to bring coffee before speaking again. "I wonder, since you''vee so boldly, what is it you''re looking for?"
"Looking for someone."
Eliza replied tly, tossing the words into the air.
She remained standing, unmoving.
It wasn''t that she was afraid; she was merely waiting.
“Looking for whom?” Korneel smiled slightly. “You see, I''m a prince. Perhaps I can
help."
Eliza narrowed her eyes and spoke with firm conviction, "You''re not from Bortend."
Everyone in Bortend knew that there was only one prince, Nn.
But this man imed to be a prince, yet Bortend had no other prince.
Korneel raised an eyebrow and looked at her. "How are you so sure I''m not the Prince Regent? Have you met Nn? Or perhaps... are you quite familiar with him?"
Everyone in Bortend knew that Nn, the man who detested womening too close, had only one woman who was familiar to him- the Holy Lady from Saint Grace Nunnery.
It was clear now that he was testing her.
Eliza smiled slightly and said, "Do I need to be sure? Sir, the design on the sword-wielding guard behind you, the patterns on the hilt, are not from Bortend."
The patterns were ancient and mysterious, clearly symbols from outside the borders, and the technique of engraving was unique to regions far from Bortend.
Korneel looked back at the guard and sighed. "Rikkert, look at that. I haven''t even had a chance to properly disguise myself and you''ve already exposed me." Rikkert Verhoeff said nothing. He drew his sword and, without hesitation, plunged it into his own shoulder.
The decisiveness of the act made even Eliza raise an eyebrow in surprise.
"For revealing your secrets, I humbly ept your punishment," Rikkert said coldly as he kneeled.
Korneel waved his hand. "Alright, enough. You''ve already punished yourself. Stand up now. Let me talk to thisdy."
With a dismissive gesture, Korneel turned back to Eliza, smiling with interest. "Since you''ve already figured out who tar, why do you still stand here? Aren''t you afraid I''ll silence you?"
