294 Chapter 294
294.Chapter 294
After Dn packed his belongings and money pouch and quickly left the woods, Nn walked out leisurely. Ross, who was behind him, stepped forward and pulled out the broadsword he had used earlier to deflect the flying dagger. “Your Highness, why didn''t we just take down those shadow guards? They looked so weak. I doubt any of them could stand a chance against us," Ross said smugly.
Nn cast him a faint nce. That look of disdain immediately shut Ross up.
''Alright, he''s probably thinking I''m all brawn and no brains again, Don''t think I can''t tell.'' Ross thought to himself, letting out a small grunt of annoyance.
Nn didn''t bother lecturing him further. Instead, he rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
It seemed Serenity''s n was progressing well. Dn, the second son of the Stonor family, had likely severed ties with his fatherpletely. Perhaps, he even did something else. Otherwise, Gabriel wouldn''t have sent shadow guards to test the waters.
With this in mind, Nn, feeling a hint of concern, immediately gave orders, "Send more people to keep an eye on the Duke''s estate. Also, monitor anyone sneaking in or out of Saint Grace Nunnery."
"Understood, Your Highness!" Ross replied confidently. He had handled such tasks countless times before. This was no big deal. "Then, Your Highness, are we heading back now?" Ross asked.
Nn replied coolly, "No, you head back. I''m going to Saint Grace Nunnery. It''s been days since Ist saw Serenity. I need to check on her."
Ross''s lips twitched at Nn''s words. He knew it!
Two hourster, Nn arrived at the entrance of Eliza''s courtyard, beating Dn to it. He had nned toe early to spend more time chatting with Serenity, but... Well, it seemed Serenity was quite the busy bee these days.
Aside from eating, sleeping, her morning lessons, and daily prayers, she spent nearly all her time tending to the herbs in her medicinal garden. For a moment, Nn couldn''t help but feel a little neglected, a faint sense of grievance bubbling up in his heart. And when he saw Eliza returning with Dn, that feeling only deepened.
What was the use of himing so early?
"Serenity, you''re back?" Nn greeted her warmly, his voice gentle and betraying none of his earlier discontent.
"Your Highness? What brings you here today?" Eliza, who hadn''t seen Nn in several days, instinctively asked. For a brief moment, Nn felt as though he might havee at the wrong time. His smile froze slightly.
Fortunately, Eliza quickly realized that she shouldn''t say that. She added with a yful smile, "It''s been a while since west met. Your timing today is impable. Did you hear I brought back some wild herbs and came over for a free meal, Your Highness?" She teased him.
Dn was taken aback when he witnessed the changce of Nn''s expression. He never imagined that words like "bright smile" could one day be used to describe Nn. Nn''s smile was bright.
Hearing Eliza''s words, all of Nn''s earlier grievances and frustrations vanished in an instant. "Well, that sounds perfect. Since you''ve got the ingredients, why don''t I show off my cooking skills today? Let me prepare something for you to try, Serenity," Nn offered with a grin.
Dn waspletely floored by what he just heard. ''Wait, hold up! What''s going on here? The Prince Regent is actually going to cook at his sister''s ce?''
For a moment, Dn couldn''t wrap his head around it. He quickly turned to look at his sister.
To his surprise, Eliza gave a calm nod and said, "Alright, then I''ll leave it to you, Your Highness."
Nn chuckled and took the basket of wild produce from her hands. “Take a break. I''ll handle the ingredients." He meant those fresh ingredients. He seemed natural as he carried the ingredients into Eliza''s small kitchen.
Eliza turned and sat down in the courtyard, asposed as ever. Dn stood off to the side, looking a bit uneasy, sneaking nces toward the small kitchen every now and then.
"Serenity, are you seriously letting the Prince Regent cook? Isn''t that kind of... inappropriate?" he asked hesitantly. But before he could finish, he turned to see Eliza''s calm andposed expression.
"What''s inappropriate about it?" she replied lig Sessfully unlocked! rice and said evenly, "This is Saint Grace Nunnery, a sanctuary, and I''m a nun. I don''t bother with worldly ferna
In the past, Eliza might have cared about something like this. After all, the idea of
a dignified Prince Regent personally cooking was something no one in the royal court would even dare to imagine.
But after traveling together through Plutonville and Noganlul, she and Nn had been through enough that things like

status stopped mattering. Their rtionship had grown more natural. They got along quite well. They seemed equal.
Dn''s face turned red at her blunt reply, and he instantly regretted saying anything.
Eliza didn''t say anything more. She simply gave him a calm look. "Didn''t you say you had something to talk to me about? If you''ve got something to say, just say it. Or are you nning to wait for dinner first?" Dinner? Not happening.
If it were just his sister here, Dn wouldn''t mind cooking himself. But this meal was made by Nn. His sister could eat it because she was the Holy Lady. As for him? No way. With that thought, Dn quickly shifted to the main topic. "Serenity, I met Mki a few days ago. He told me about how Father turned a blind eye to the Padi family''s troubles back then." Dn hesitated, then looked at Eliza. "Was that why you were so determined to leave the Duke''s estate?"
“No,” Eliza replied tly. Her face was expressionless as she said, "I left because I wanted to. It had nothing to do with the Padi family."
Dn couldn''t help but hold onto a shred of hope. Maybe his sister hadn''tpletely given up on them back then? If he could fix the issues between their father and the Padi family, would she change her attitude toward them? But her answer dashed his hopes.
Dn pressed his lips together, swallowing the bitterness in his heart, and continued, “Alright. Anyway, after talking to Mki, I went back to Father''s study and found a ledger."
