L shook her head. Jasmine had been doing everything she could, but as Vince had said, this was a massive issue. It wasn''t something that could be resolved in just a few days.
She didn''t stay long at Joyce Group. Her main purpose today was simply to confirm Morgan Group''s situation.
It was clear Kieran feared she would worry and wasn''t telling her the full details.
Just as she arrived at Magi Pictures, someone stopped her. "Ms. Hart."
L recognized the burly man. He was one of Stefan''s bodyguards. "Mr. Morgan would like to have a word with you."
L frowned. She had no interest in going. If they met, she would only be mocked and ridiculed by him, and there was nothing worthwhile to discuss.
Seeing her reluctance, the bodyguard spoke again. "Mr. Morgan said he only wants to ask you a question. If your answer satisfies him, he might help resolve some of the Morgan family''s troubles."
A question?
L snorted. Was he going to ask if she was willing to divorce Kieran?
And the answer he wanted to hear was, of course, that she was willing. That way,
he could arrange a marriage between Faith and Kieran.
Then Stefan would help resolve Morgan Group''s crisis.
What a perfect deal.
"Sorry, I don''t have time." L took a step back, intending to walk around him.
The bodyguard''s voice remained calm but firm. "Mr. Morgan said I am to take action if you refuse. I assume you wouldn''t want Morgan Group to suffer any more negative press, right?"
His tone left no room for decision.
L closed her eyes before opening them again. "Fine. Let''s go."
Regardless of her decision, she was going to have to endure this conversation.
Stefan''s ce wasn''t far. It was a temporary vi he had chosen.
When the car entered the property, L spotted Stefan in the courtyard, sipping tea. He was alone. Faith wasn''t there.
She got out of the car and walked toward him.
"Sit." Stefan poured her a cup of tea.
The spring air still carried a chill. L felt somefort from the warmth of the tea, though it did nothing to ease her tension.
"Ms. Hart." Stefan chuckled. "Have Faith spoken to you?"
L answered truthfully, "We met and exchanged a few words."
"What did she say?" Stefan pressed.
L didn''t respond.
It was obvious that Stefan wanted this marriage between the Morgan and Moore families. He likely didn''t know about Mira''s suggestion of a fake marriage. "I can guess what she said Faith was a sharp kid. She'' also the most outstanding kid among the other Moore family youngsters. It''s a pity that the Moore family fails to recognize her worth. I would have raised her as my heir if she had been born into my family."
L remained silent, simply watching him. He was praising the person he favored
and had no reason to care about her opinion.
Stefan smiled. "She proposed a fake marriage with Kieran, didn''t she?"
L''s expression remained unreadable, not reacting to his urate guess.
Stefan chuckled. "You certainly have courage."
L set her cup down. "Mr. Morgan, I assume you didn''t invite me here just to praise Mr. Moore, right?"
"Why did you refuse Faith''s proposal for a fake marriage?" Stefan stared at her sharply.
His gaze was ufortable, but
L merely furrowed her brows.
"Why should I agree? Who do you think l''am? Do you think tam jus Clinging to the Morgan family waiting for it to recover so I can
enjoy their status?
bet
"Do you think I should agree to this fake marriage, allowing you and the e family to step in and he
Morgan
oup through its crisis?"
Stefan lifted his gaze, his aged but piercing eyes carrying an undeniable pressure.
He stared at L intently while thetter met his gaze calmly.
After a long pause, Stefan chuckled and refilled her cup.
