L stared at the business card for a few seconds before finally reaching out to take it.
Faith nodded. "Sorry for the disturbance. See you."
As Faith left, L stood for a moment before preparing to leave.
A voice called out from behind. "L."
She quickly stuffed the business card into her pocket before turning around.
Michael eyed her suspiciously. "What are you hiding? Is it food? Let me have a bite."
"You''re about to join the production crew. No more snacking! I''ll tell your agent if I catch you." L kept her hand in her pocket.
Matthew, who was usually quiet, unexpectedly spoke up. "Did you just run into some trouble?"
He had been watching from a distance and felt the tense atmosphere between L and that woman.
Unfortunately, the woman had left before he and Michael could get close.
"No," L said. "She''s just a friend. We were just chatting."
Matthew nced at her and nodded silently.
But his suspicion grew.
He wouldn''t have thought much of it if L hadn''t made an excuse. But her exnation almost seemed like she was trying to cover something up.
"Matthew, you didn''t major in acting. Even though you''ve been learning from a coach, you''re still new to this. You should ask for help when you can," L muttered.
Her gaze shifted to Michael, who was afraid she might rat him out. She smirked and pointed at him. "You two seem pretty closetely. You can ask him any questions."
After all, Michael had already won an award for his acting.
Michael grinned. "We''re brothers. Of course, we have a great bond."
Brothers?
L paused before realizing they were referring to the fact that both of their names started with the letter "M".
"That doesn''t sound great. If you''re going to pair up, why not call yourselves the Whale Brothers?" L joked.
"Whale Brothers?" Michael stroked his chin. "That sounds pretty good. What do you think? Should we start a duo?"
L rolled her eyes at him. "Don''t corrupt Matthew. Go home and get some rest."
"Do you think I''m not good enough for him?" Michael joked.
L teased, "I''m training him to be the next best actor."
Michael pouted. "Am I not good enough?"
After a moment, he suddenly added, "Wait a second. I already won an award. You still owe me one."
L snapped her head around. "When did I owe you an award?"
Michael clutched his chest dramatically. "I explicitly requested one the day
Matthew and I joined the production. Didn''t we agree on it?"
"I never agreed." L shook her head.
Michael turned to Matthew and yfullyined, "Your agent goes back on her word. She''s not a good person."
Lughed. "Just learn acting from him. But don''t pick up anything else. Now go home and rest. Make sure
to study the script during your break."
Matthew nodded. As he watched L drive away, he finally spoke. "Ms. Hart seems to have something on her mind."
Michael''s yful expression faded. "I noticed too. But don''t stress over things you can''t control. Just focus on your work and don''t cause her any trouble."
That night, L found herself flipping Faith''s business card, lost in thought.
On the day Kieran returned, L
é
happened to finish work early in the afternoon and drove herself to the
airport to pick him up along with Cole.
Both of them had dark circles under their eyes, indicating they hadn''t gotten much
rest in the past few days.
As L exited the car to help with the luggage, Kieran pulled her into his arms instead.
He pressed a soft kiss on her lips, expressing how much he had missed her these past few days.
L hugged him tightly in return.
